Re: My long term 57 project

Very nice score on the new 57 C/L find. I thought I had C/L on lock down, in our neck of the woods! Must of been asleep at the wheel again.
Looks very solid and kind of straight. Super jealous!

Yep, I was lucky it didn't get sold before I could get to it! It is in very good shape with a lot of spare parts, basically everything except the engine and trans!

Plan to sell the frame its sitting on, let me know if you are interested!

Re: My long term 57 project

Just read the full thread from start to finish and i'm blown away with the work you have put into that first truck.

And i'm more than a bit jealous of the availability of parts you have over there, awesome job and finish on the 57 and loving that cab interior.

Looking forward to seeing both trucks sitting on those new chassis, the PB stuff is top notch. I follow their FB page and the fabrication is just next level.

Re: My long term 57 project

Anyone know where's JJ?

I did a search and his user name, "Chuck Driver" comes up as an invalid user. What gives?

Re: My long term 57 project

Hey guys, I'm still here just haven't posted in a long time. G&R's57GMC asked where I was on my other build thread, so I thought I would look and see if this one was still active. I appreciate your guys concern!!

Like many of us life sometimes throws you are curve ball you were not expecting and not ready to deal with. For me it was unexpectedly losing my wife in Feb 2019. My kids and I have been making adjustments and finding our new norm. Its a slow day to day process but we are strong together and will be fine in the end.

Still driving the wheels off of this truck and hope to get to work on the other soon. I did put another set of wheels and tires on it last year, other than that haven't done anything else to it.

Thanks again for your concern and will be around more often, thanks!

Re: My long term 57 project

Hay JJ

I'm glad your OK and welcome back .

I'm sorry about your wife . I lost mine suddenly in Oct . 2015 two weeks before our 20th anniversary .

I know what you're feeling . In my case I decided life is to short to mope around so I took care of business and by December I was looking for a new wife . I found her in January 2016 and we married in January 2017 . We have been together since day one .

I did lose a "friend" who didn't like the way I grieved . Who made him the grief police ? We all grieve differently .

I wish you well .

Re: My long term 57 project

Surprised to see this pop up today as I have just finished a small change. I've been wanting to do this for a while and finally found the time to do it. I like the way it turned out, hope you guys like it too!

Re: My long term 57 project

Hi JJ,

VERY sorry to hear about the loss of your wife. Man, I've always known that but now that I am about to turn 70 I am realizing the REALITY that it's coming.

I check in occasionally but nothing like I used to. Just stopped tonight because I came across some Cameo bed sides that have me wondering just what all would be involved to make the change? Are the numerous parts it will undoubtedly take available or rare as hen's teeth?

Take care and my best to you, Dan

Hey Dan, we are all getting older every day for sure.

I believe almost all of the parts are being reproduced, but they're expensive! I'm still gathering parts for mine.

Best to you too.

JJ
