Nice work on the firewall Mike. I like the look of the sloped top cap. It really cleans up the look.

Thanks Drew, As of right now going with the steel floor I already have. One of these days I would like to install a nice wood floor, but right now I just want a return on my "investment".

Hey Mike, what gauge sheetmetal are you using for your patches, if you don't mind sharing some info?

Thanks Drew. Yes, I checked today, I am using 19 gauge (.042") and 20 gauge (.037") thick. The metal I'm using was some scrap pieces I bought at a metal recycler.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

HERE is where I found the sheetmetal thickness chart. I usually just measure the thickness with calipers. I never know what gauge the metal is I'm working with.

That wall is looking real good. What is you're plan for the right side of the wall, are you planning on shaving that end?

You're welcome Adam, if I can help you any just let me know. I copied this design from LFD, Kevin aka Rckrwln. He has used it on a few builds for customers, one is called "lemon drop" LINK. I liked it and ran with it. HERE is the other project he used it on.

Thanks Alex, I am not technically shaving the driver side. I am filling all the un needed holes there though. I'm not really planning much more in the "shaved" department. I just like the engine bay to be cleaned up a little. I think it will look good with the LS motor. Never been a big fan of the wire gutter or that huge air conditioner box.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Finished filling all the uneeded holes in the firewall.
Tonight my friend Mark (Crash OK) came over and we test fit the cab. Thanks again for all the help and the use of your engine hoist Mark!

The good news, it looks good. The bad news we have fitment issues.
The low hump is gonna have to go. The exhaust routing will need to be changed a little. I didn't know the bed sits higher than the back of the cab.
It will be an easy fix but it needs fixed.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

If that's the Flowmaster pipe kit, I had the same issue. I just ended up sectioning the middle of the 'S' bend to bring the mufflers down some. Looking good!

Thanks for the idea. I was thinking about just cutting the pipes and rotating the S bend inward, and lowering them about an inch. I never would have dreamed the cab was lower than the bottom of the bed. Nice checking on my part. Oh well, a few hours of work will make it fit. Better now than after painted

Thanks Kurt, Take it easy...You get to actually driver yours. It sucks waiting. But I'm trying to do the best job I can, unfortunately I'm very slow. It's a long wait. Things are coming together now.
