Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"

Are you going to pop the heads off to check cyl cond? You should also check the bearings and change rear main seal for good measure, easier now than later.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"

the engine had one rebuild and they didnt bore it over or anything and since the rebuild its only had 5700 miles on it! its like brand new everywhere i tear into it. for now im gonna keep the heads on since the valves look clean and the engine turns over freely with nice compression. but within this month im going to buy a set of 67 fuelie heads there 1:94 and im going to get new seats, guides and stainless steel valves. and im going to get a cam. this summer the 327 will come out and get its new heads and its new cam!

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"

Lol these guys were true motor heads I trust them. They had a nice little shop and they had 4 327's with camel hump heads! They had a 65 Malibu and a 62 ford galaxie as well these guys are cool. Yesterday I bought the temperature sender for the driver head and I bought brass freeze plugs for it to. I poped out the old plugs and in the process I also poped my left pointer finger... Probably gonna lose the nail but oh well I got back of the engine after my moms repair work and I painted the engine and installed the freeze plugs after the paint was good. Yesterday I also got a new power steering gear box. So today that's gonna go on and then I'm gonna get back on the engine. I have one more freeze plug to put in but first I need to take care of the paint in that area. Pics will be soon to follow!

Did you drill the nail to relieve the pressure? It may sound bad but it helps alot

thanks shawn, im glad its looking as good as i hoped.

today i stopped by o reillys beforr school and bought a new fuel pump. figured i would just get a new one and not use the one on the 302. and i deicded to just get new motor mounts as well. i installed my new power steering gear box yesterday and it works good! i picked up my blasted parts yesterday and i got them primed and some painted. the alt brackets need to be painted on the other side and the same goes for the sheilds but ill bget that done today. i put the timing chain cover on since i painted it and it looks good just need gaskets. i also got the last freeze plug in and the area above the oil filter painted on the block. and i started sanding on the gasket surfaces for the water pump and timing chain cover. so today im going to finish the sanding and pick up my fuel pump and get that installed. heres a shot of the timing chain cover painted, installed and then the brackets before i sprayed a coat of paint

Thanks Cameron!

Yesterday I bought a new water pump and I picked up the new fuel pump I went home and installed the fuel pump and then I painted the water pump. I sanded all the gasket surfaces and got them ready. Today I'm gonna buy a timing chain cover, that way I can get the cover on and get the water pump on after that. Since I don't have the right exhaust manifold for the drivers side I'm just gonna make a bracket that mounts with the 2 first bolts on the ram horn and then it will come around and mount to the lower alt bracket. And when I get the water pump on I can put the brackets on and use a spare alternator and ram horn and just start fabbing up a bracket pics soon to follow
