Just a reminder, if you want to reference a specific post in a reply right clicking on that post's number, like #853, will give you a direct link you can paste into the new reply.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=853

It will open as a single post and keep people from having to search through pages to find a specific post.

That would be an excellent truck to restore. Would love to see a solid Orange Highlander.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Here's a hidden highlander for ya (they don't even know it's a C20, let alone a Highlander...). Even the price is hidden. But, seriously, pretty solid and original YG8 C20 in AZ (I'm guessing original plaid is still under the JC Whitney seat cover and it's POSSIBLY original paint (code matches what it currently is and is that an original dealer sticker on the tailgate?? Maybe not, seems too nice for original, but who knows...): http://tucson.craigslist.org/ctd/5887754557.html

And look Tim, no lower trim!!

They also have a blue/white 1974 Cheyenne Super shorty @ $22,795.00.

$17,795.00 for the blue C/20 Highlander. Are those the correct hub caps for it?

No wonder the dealer never called me back, they must not really want to sell it... (Caramba, that seems steep to me). Now, if it were a Custom Camper...

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Way too much money for that C20 as it appears.

The wheelcovers shown were offered as RPO PA1 on 15" wheel equipped C10s (Pickup, Blazer or Suburban) in 72 (including Cheyenne Supers!) and were also included (as part of the package) on C10 Promo Package Highlanders YG6, YG7 or YG8.

So yes they are correct for a C10 Promo Package Highlander, but not this C20 being offered.

That would be a nice truck. A big block with the YG8 Package and Monotone Dark Olive Paint. If it isn't too far gone it would nice to restore.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Tim, any idea ( and I'm thinking its impossible to find out ) how many Highlanders were produced by GM ? With 867 posts in this thread have you done a breakdown of how many of the various models of Highlander have been posted?

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

That's a nice one Greg, was looking at it on ebay earlier. A true shortie. Something seemed not quite right about the seats though - correct plaid and parchment and all that, but the panel size looks off to me. What stood out to me was the height of the upper vinyl panel above the plaid, looks about 4-5" too thick to me, and the seam location (looks like it's on top instead of in front) - anyone else seeing this or is it my imagination? The orange looks darker, almost a rusty color (the plaid I mean) but it may just be the lighting, because the pattern looks just right. Probably sounds like I'm nit-pickin, sorry - I'm not, that is a sweet truck, I really like it. Those aren't PA1s on there, but close though! I'd slap the correct ones on there, or, since I'm not a huge PA1 fan, maybe some PO1s (like yours Greg - I think it looks great like that) or PO3s for good measure. But I don't care, a swb highlander doesn't come along every day, would love to have this one for sure!

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

The Orange truck was the one on EBay a few weeks ago. It was said to have been in storage and someone had stolen the interior. I'm not sure if it sold or not, but someone put some interior in it. The door panels looks nice from what I can see.

I'm just wondering is that a factory seat? Or something close. Looks like it comes up quite high in the rear window picture.
Either way I would love to own it.

Wow, good catch - I didn't even notice the overall seat height. Hmm.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Clearly a flipper and even being just registered in California (from AZ) I'd want to see the VIN plate/rivets and the frame partial VIN.

If the "original paint" claim is important, I'd be asking about the tape line on the SPID.

The seat is clearly a "creation" and a long way from correct.

However, it is nice to see a truck that has the original radio and hasn't had speakers cut into the doors.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Thanks Tim. Im down here in North Fontana now. Right now I'm rebuilding the stock 350. Its stock appearing on the outside, nothing special. Its a slow process, right now its about hunting down OEM style components like a water pump and fuel pump, everything else is accounted for. Also, I'm doing little things like painting the oil pan the correct color. (No chrome under this hood). It will take some time but I will post the updates on my build thread as progress is made.
