Re: Nik's 62 build
I bought those WW's you linked to me a while back for $200, they are on older 6 lug rims with the clips for the caps. I got a good score there !

Re: Nik's 62 build
Thanks!
Yes that was a great deal! I'll be posting these for sale soon and I'll see what I can get for them.

Re: Nik's 62 build
Got back from my trip this evening and had time to bolt in the radiatior, front filler panels and hood latch. All is looking good. As you can see I haven't bothered to get rid of the lightbulb mounted on the hood. I've actually been using it to work at night

Re: Nik's 62 build
Nice job man! I had the day off school for spring break and spent a good portion of the day working sanding the interior firewall and floor of the 66's cab. Tomorrow(saturday) morning I should be priming and painting. Have to be somewhere around noon so not sure on the paint....but primer none the less!

Thanks Bill, the lightbulb is one of those things that puts a smile on everyone's face, so it will likely be staying. I decided to try to make the power steering high pressure hose instead of trying to find one with the correct fittings. The metal part of the line had a 90 degree bend in it and was far too long, so I straightened it out and cut it to the correct length. |

Re: Nik's 62 build
I then made a nice Double inverted flare on the end and put the correct bend in the line. Here it is installed.

Re: Nik's 62 build
Today was the last day of my springs break, so I decided to get a few things done. First I cleaned all the grease and crap off of the oil filter canister and metal lines and painted them black. I wanted to leave the original sticker so I taped it off to preserve it while painting. Here is the finished product.

Re: Nik's 62 build
The top was aluminum so I just left it raw and polished it.

Re: Nik's 62 build
Nice job on the power steering lines! Sure is nice when you can make the stuff you already have work.

Thanks, and yes I am a big believer in building instead of buying things

Re: Nik's 62 build
Got a little time today to mount those hooks I got from the blue 61 one ton cab, I mounted them in the same location they were on the 61, not sure if they're gm or not, but they're certainly era correct.

Re: Nik's 62 build
Also made some more progress on my dads burb, since we could not find a suburban door he bought these pickup doors a while back and I already repaired the lower rust. As you can see the window frame is a completely different shape, the burb is square and the pickup is rounded.

Re: Nik's 62 build
Real nice work Nick.It has been a while since I seen someone convert a truck door to a burb door (or vice versa).

Today I went to go treasure hunting at my favourite little junkyard again and found this 64-66 swb stepside laying way in the back on a mountain of old rims. The cab was actually completely rust free, but unfortunately the roof was screwed up terribly. I grabbed a few parts from it. Last edited by 62stepside longbox; 04-12-2017 at 10:16 AM. |

Re: Nik's 62 build
The main thing I got from it was this set of west coast style mirrors. They were in pretty good shape but just filthy.

The backsides, the arms will still need to be stripped and painted white.

Re: Nik's 62 build
Mirrors look nice! I wish there were junkyards that still had old trucks here.

Thanks fellas, and yes they are! Thanks and yes this is the only one around here that I know of. This one has some especially neat stuff, such as this original 4x4 gmc cab.
