No o-ring, just a flat brass or bronze washer.

LOL, I closed the hood, rolled up the windows, locked the doors and took the keys in the house. I'll have to put in some extra effort to go do something to it!! Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow........

Now I'm on the hunt for an 88-98 rear end. I did find one locally at a yard for $275.

that sounds like a lot i guess depending whats in it. miles, gears, posi!?... are the pretty sought after rear ends? my minds spinning now since i went the cheapo route w/ mine and just threw a set of spider gears in it... i know its width is more than our stock one. hmmmmm.... Amy already wants to kill you since i told her i'm hunting for a 6.0 that will cost just a little more than the 5.3.LOL

Average price on car-part.com is upwards of $400-$500 for one of those rears.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

I think you did get a good deal Ed!

Thanks Aaron!

Dennis, it will cost me about $250 to set up the 3.42 R&P I have into Fred's rear end, so for me that's a good price for a complete rear end that will also give me the extra width that I want. But I just found one in Aurora for $175 that I could probably get for $150, I'll probably know about that one Friday.

I can get truck rear ends for $85 complete at the pull it yourself yard with a 30 day warranty or pay $300 at the main yard and get a six month warranty.

They sell the gears and carrier as a set for $47. Only thing missing is the carrier bearing races and shims. For some reason they don't leave those on the assembly.

The ones with ultra low miles (like under 1000) go for a little more but most are just $47.

Truck freight couldn't be that much on 200 pounds from WA to CO.

I could get you the carrier & gears and ship those to you if you can't get what you want locally for a decent price. Probably be $80 after shipping cost.

That goes for anybody else too. Just let me know what gear you are looking for and I will see what they have on hand.

Of course, I then proceeded to put all new bearings and seals in it, so I killed another Benjamin .

Nope, to a chance now.

I just got the replacement "pedal position sensor" from Rock Auto that is suppose to be for the VIN Rancho gave me for my engine (which does match the PCM). Not even close! At all. I received the entire pedal assembly, and it is all plastic. The pedal Rancho sent me is all steel, and the sensor is removable.

I called Rancho and I wanted to tell Paul Smith to go get bent. He was getting pretty pissy with me. He said that everything is to be pulled from the same vehicle, but I told him that the pedal I received from them could not be from a 2006 1/2 ton 2wd pickup. He finally said he will get me what I needed and hung up.

NOTE - After spending a lot of time on Rock Auto, I finally figured out that the pedal they sent me is from a 2005, NOT an 06!!! The pedal and TAC module for 2006 and 2007 are specific to those two years ONLY!

This is what I got from Rancho:

This is what I should have:

So I will wait and see what I get from Rancho, if anything. At least I have the correct pedal in my possession, and can order the harness through GM.

That's a bummer man. Hopefully Rancho will help you out, but if not at least you know what the issue is. Good luck man.

I say Fred needs to be at the meet even if it has to show up on a trailer.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

Some of the salvage places aren't as nice as they used to be. They really just want to be done with it as soon as it leaves their sight. They will do anything, and tell you anything to make you happy when you are dealing with them the first time. My cousin has had several confrontations with them because he is doing something different than what it's intended purpose is. They aren't in the business of that, and get quite rude.

Well, I guess I should change my answer from "nope, not a chance now" to "partly cloudy with a chance of meatballs."

I'll know tomorrow night either yes or no. After that, I'm out of business days to order parts to arrive in time for a Sunday cruise.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

Well, with some FANTASTIC help of the parts guy at the local Chevy dealer, I have some info......

The pedal that Rock Auto sent me, listed as an 06-07 pedal, is actually for a 2004-2010 Colorado/Canyon or a 2006-2010 Hummer. This is the first issue I have ever had with Rock Auto. Bummed, but I'll continue using them.

I can order the pedal and harness through the dealer, and for an extra $25 have them tomorrow. Total cost of about $150.

I can order both through gmpartsdirect.com for about HALF that, but won't have them for another week.... possibly two as they are special order through them.

Or I can wait for Rancho to get me the correct parts.

I want to go cruising this weekend. I'm on the phone with the dealer.
