Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Drove RAT to the local NAPA store to get a battery for The Boss' door slammer.
On the way out, I found out that the electric gate was broken. Got out and opened it like a real gate. Came home. Opened and closed it like a real gate again (the dog is old, but she wanders)... Installed the battery in the car. The electric garage door opener wouldn't close the door. Or open it. Then it would. Then it wouldn't. Then it would and wouldn't with the remote. Got the ladder. Fixed the track...Broken aluminum support...severed wires. "Reset". Put the ladder away. Went back out and fixed the closing bracket (it's electrical)...and then the latch bracket) on the gate. It's all fixed...for now. Not a good day for electrical crap...It's 11:07 a.m. and I need a nap. Was that about the truck?

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Thanks for the tip. Went to Home Depot and got a $50 map gas torch. Then off to Harbor Fright and got $40 electric impact wrench. Put the heat to it and one hit from the old electric impact wrench and it spun off like it was going to take flight. Thanks for your help. Kissed a hundred dollars good by but as far as I'm concerned it was priceless!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
It's been six years since "The Truck" has 1) seen the light of day, and 2) actually ran. Two weeks ago it came out in the sun and got rinsed off and dried. Today I pulled the gas tank. This weekend I'll replace the fluids, intake, carb, and distributor.
Hopefully, Sunday it will be running again. Pics tomorrow. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Well I finally got the truck all back together and back on the road today. It was a long hard winter doing all the body work and paint. Took it out for a cruise today to show some friends and family. Still have to put wood in the box floor, mount my side mirrors and get the fuel gauge working. But it on the road.

Thanks. It's a good feeling when it all finally comes together and your cruising down the road with big grin on your face. It makes all the long hours worth it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
VA firewall plate installed and painted. Also installed underdash unit, I used 2 1-1/8OD x 5/8 ID rubber grommets form Lowes for the lower two hardlines since the kit didn't come with any. Still need to paint the right side but that is going to PITA.

Moved the truck out of the garage. Its been 8 weeks since I started the rust repair. Cab Corners, Rockers, Floor, etc. The usual repair. Cab is painted, carpet and Seat installed. Working on Fenders and Doors next.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
1. Sold some parts (always good for the pile to get smaller)
2. Tried to buy a couple more trucks in my "hood" out here in rural Oklahoma, but to no avail. They continue to sit...how sad. 3. Went thru my lower chrome trim stash and put together a nice set for my 72 Cheyenne Super. Straightened them out/cleaned them up and restriped the woodgrain. Very nice driver qulity set. 4. Sanded the white coves/sides on same truck. 5. Pulled pass side inner fender, sanded and shot w/Rustoleum semi gloss...just like item #3, above, came out looking great. 6. Sanded and painted rear bumper dust shields.....could've come out better. That's about it. Making progress; headed in the right direction. And got a ton of rain, too.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I brought my dad's truck home to install some some sound deadening and speakers for him. I took a few picks with his and mine in my shop.
I got about halfway laying the second skin last night. I'm debating whether i want to pull the gas tank or not. Anyone do this to their truck and skipped behind the tank and wish they didn't? Maybe just doing the gaps on each side the gas tank is enough? Anyway, here are some pics. Mines the orange one. As you can tell it's no show truck. I put mine to work. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I worked on the new fuel line from 1 AM till 5 AM this morning. What did I get done? I realized I could not make the tight bends of the around-engine-tubing! I ordered that from Inline Tube today. I also got the main fuel line bent and it's pretty good but I couldn't get it lined up. I am going to remove the oil filter today and see if that gives me enough room.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I put a couple more hours into the truck today. I think I have all the major problems with the new fuel line figured out. I hope to finish that phase up this week or next.

That's going to be a great looking truck Custom/10. The lift and tire/wheel combo is perfect.

Nothing to truck specifically...but I sanded, primed and painted the visor rods, hood hinges and hood latch. Also sanded and primed the inner fenders.
