Post Door Hinges

THANK YOU ! .

For what it's worth , I often make things hone to fit by using 1,000 grit or finer taped to an old drill bit , well oiled then spin it in the hole with a drill motor ~ works like a charm .

I picked up my seats, headliner, and visors from the upholstery shop. Not ready to put them in yet, but I picked them up.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Refurbed an old gas cap with a new rubber seal cuz I couldn't wait for my new one. Got the new one today and it fits nicely. Changed out a burned out a/c fan switch and fuel filler neck seal. All the parts were from GMC Paul's, nice fit and price.

I need a lower profile screw to hold in the ac switch in the bottom hole because it hits a little when trying to switch the fan to high. I soaked the rubber seal in hot soapy water and it popped on nicely in just a few minutes thanks to advice from the board.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Lots....got cab off replaced bushings and bolts...cab is mounted.
Cut out lots off rust to replace front and rear cab mounts.
Passenger side front and rear mounts are mounted and welded in.
Built my own inner rocker panel, and it is mounted and welded in.

I didn't want side markers, so I made some templates out of cardboard, cut some sheet metal, and good bye side markers. Filled and sanded....just need to primer them.

Finally, I didn't want the bed light so I removed it, built a patch, and got it welded on. Still have to do the bodywork, but it is welded in and ground flush.

A lot accomplished....just nothing real visible yet until we start to put truck back together.

Drove it on a 100mile round trip to the nifty 50's show .. Ran like a top and the vintage air blew ice cold!!! After all the problems I've had since the cam swap it was good to finally get all the links worked out and be able to enjoy it

Took off the passenger side upper and lower control arms and labeled everything to go to a shop so that i can get old bushing pressed out and new ones pressed in.

Finally got to go pick up my freshly balanced rotating assembly. Time to clean the engine up and start the assembly this weekend. After 5-1/2 months in machine shop jail...

My wife wants me to get a gap-filling plate to go between the radiator and the grill - like she saw on a friend's truck. Who am I to say no??

My Burb did the same thing, smoke from one side it was valve guides (but decided to have the heads done). Valve guides are very cheap, but had to remove the lifters and push the new ones down on.

Also dealing with valve covers! PO decide it was good to install a curve in the cover gasket! I decided it was a good idea to go for a spin with the radiator cap unlocked!! Just an FYI neither are a good idea!!

Knocked the 2 rear cross members out to make way for the new PB ones that should come in any week now. If you are planning on doing this I suggest find a better method then a 4 lb hammer and a set of punches and chisels... I'm sure my arms will be sore for another 2 days.

You got it easy!!! I did mine with the bed and can on. But a sanding disc for an angle grinder and a good drill bit makes those super easy. I just used a sanding disc to grind the head flush and then drilled them out. No hammers necessary
