Re: Over 25 Years Later, Finally My 71 C-10 Truck Build
On your headlights. You should do the relay mod. Seriously. Very easy, they are brighter and less issues with the headlight switches.
On your interior vents that are down by your legs, i completely forgot about mine. ahaha. Do they sell replacement seals for those things?? Mine are shot.

The progress...found another halogen bulb and installed it. Didn't work on the wiring yet though. I'll do that this weekend. It sure looks better though. The only thing missing on the front is the little frame top bumper brackets. Maybe get those on this weekend also. The rear window took longer to clean than it did to install. There are a couple small spots I'll have to touch up with black, but the wife is wondering if I can get a chrome one. Maybe I could just sand the black off the outer frame and polish that, leave the inner frame stuff black to go with the tinted glass. Any opinions on that? I was also thinking about getting the chrome trim for the rear window like the windshield. I also have a set of the trim for the back of the cab that was used to separate the colors for 2 tone, but can't remember ever seeing it on a truck that a single color. Might look cool.

i have seen plenty of two tone trucks. my dads 70 4wd custom cab truck was white and it had below the window trim and lower trim.

Re: Over 25 Years Later, Finally My 71 C-10 Truck Build
I should have worded that better. I have seen lots of 2 tone trucks with the rear cab trim. Can't remember seeing rear cab trim on a single color truck though. This truck was originally 2 tone. White cab top and medium green body, with the trim separating the color on the back of the cab. Might even have some old pics somewhere of that. I need to find those old pics, scan and post them. What a beater.

Re: Over 25 Years Later, Finally My 71 C-10 Truck Build
Took a few minutes to install the kick panel vents. They look pretty good, but now I see how terrible my brake pedal looks.
And I swapped my new door mirror in. It looks better. The old one is listed in the for sale section if anyones interested.

Re: Over 25 Years Later, Finally My 71 C-10 Truck Build
I can't say I figured out what was wrong with the head lights, but I fixed them. It might have been just a misalignment of the plug into the dimmer switch, because that was the only thing I messed with. Pulled the plug to check for power, it was good, plugged it back in, lights work. All of them. Just bolted down the ground wire for the driver side which brightened it up and called it a day.
Well, almost. I painted the brake pedal and installed the new pad with trim. I also installed the driver side door panel and arm rest. Swapped the green arm rests on both doors, installed my mini window cranks (they work fine) and took it for a drive. It's running good and drives even better. Still need to swap the power steering pump, but you don't notice that on the highway. Took it for about a 8 mile drive out in the country without a hiccup. Couple things I'll need to do eventually is get the kickdown connected and adjusted (ordered a bracket this morning) and adjust the modulator on the tranny for a higher shift rpm from 2nd to 3rd. It's ready now. I trust it to go anywhere. There is still a short list of little things that still need attention, but nothing that keeps it from the road. I love it and just want to get back in it and go.

Re: Over 25 Years Later, Finally My 71 C-10 Truck Build
Plugged in the gas gage wire and it appears to be working. I used some wire ties to hold the wires along the frame rail. I tried testing the horn connector for power and it was a fail. Not sure if it's that crappy grant horn set up or something else, but really don't care. I need it to be legal, so I'll eventually need to get it working. I need to swap the correct neutral safety switch so the reverse lights work, then I could call the electrical system done. Upgrades with relays to come later. I'm spraying the bottom side of the hump cover so I can bolt it down. At 60 mph it was wanting to lift up.
My back spasmed this morning and kinda took the wind out of my sails. I was hoping to swap the power steering pump out. Might be a couple days. Re: Over 25 Years Later, Finally My 71 C-10 Truck Build
Just continuing to plug away at my punch list. Yesterday I got the hump cover undercoated, sealed with 3m strip caulk and bolted in. Also has fat mat on the inside. Couple days ago I got the lighter hooked up and it has power now.
I went out last night with the intention of getting my clutch delete plate installed. I had it painted and marked where the holes need to go, but then couldn't find my self tapping screws. My garage has become a disaster area between the truck reassembly, selling parts that I won't need, shipping supplies, parts for things I will need to keep, etc. So I spent a couple hours just cleaning off my work bench. I got a few new parts today with more on the way. New harmonic balancer, larger diameter with nice timing marks so I can get a more accurate adjustment. New spark plug wires, universal with the ends off so I can cut them to fit my wire looms properly. Still waiting for the kickdown cable bracket and another little bit that I'll be using to hold my manual throttle cable to the firewall. The classic industries parts should be here tomorrow. Couple pics... ps, still didn't find those damn screws.

Great progress! Sorry I haven't chimed in in a while. I've been pretty busy working on PITA Dodges.

Re: Over 25 Years Later, Finally My 71 C-10 Truck Build
Yep. They'll look good and the almost new wires that are on it now will look great on my Jimmy.
I have no expectations of people chiming in, except for VA72C10. That is a requirement. We all gotta pay our bills. Barely looked at the truck today even though I was in the garage. Still cleaning up and sorting parts. I have a blazer rear seat I was getting ready to ship out, maybe tomorrow. That one came with 3 passenger belts, kind of rare. I have a lot of big parts to get rid of also. You need to come up here and get them.

Re: Over 25 Years Later, Finally My 71 C-10 Truck Build
It was $47.82 when I ordered mine. Prices fluctuate. But free shipping. Also available through summit.
Amazon.com: Professional Products 80000... I've mostly been working, cleaning and sorting parts for sale, etc. I want to change the power steering pump, but don't want to clean up the mess it's going to make. It'll take me a month to install the parts I just got the way it's going lately. And I keep looking at my jimmy and thinking about getting going on that again.
