Re: My 52 GMC Build
Yes Kees lots of smiles.
Drove the truck to work this morning, trying to sneak out of the neighborhood with a old diesel is not easy 250 almost trouble free miles and counting.

Nice lug nuts!
They look cool, but I'm surprised that truckers run these on the front wheels of a semi-truck where they're sticking wayyy out there. I'd hate to walk into them.

I like the Redneck Spoiler in the Bed!!! Really helps with the Down draft I bet!
What a Nice ride you have there and Great to see it on the Road so have fun and Enjoy !!! I wish Diesel was cheaper here in the lower 48 as it is usually about .30 more a gallon ! |

Re: My 52 GMC Build
right on man, putting the test miles on it is always a great feeling. But not better than actually hauling stuff with it. That is the best feeling, using it as a truck.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
So I need some help. I went to install my glove box tonight and the defrost nozzle is stopping me from getting the top screws lined up, am I doing something wrong?

Re: My 52 GMC Build
it should slide in there tight. Try moving your defrost a bit, it should move out of your way. Def a tight squeeze under there.

there were two gloveboxes if I remember, 47-49 and 50-53, you may need the other!

Thanks joedoh. I did have the other before, now I have the 50-53. The 47-49 are not as tall and will not fit the opening.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Nice to see you are still enjoying it! Is the off road park you're close to anywhere near the big fire up there? I had to laugh about your comment on trying to sneak out of the neighborhood with a diesel. Everything I have is a loud diesel. It does make it a bear to leave early without waking everyone up.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
LOL thanks ptc
Today I went and picked up my 3.54 gears. going to install them on Sunday. Then I think I fixed 2 small oil leaks in the top of the motor, didn't drive it yet. Friday afternoon I am going to give to it's first bath, I hope it doesn't leak.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Well we Joe and I got the gears in with some help from Andy. It was not easy the carrier is so heavy we think about 100lb with the locker at head height and we put it in 3 times. Maybe weighed a bit less but that's what it felt like. We had to move the carrier .002 to get proper backlash. But all is good. After we broke in the gears with a rolling burn out. So my RPM dropped 350rpm, so now at 60mph I am at 2100rpm not 2400rpm or so.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
The old "rolling burn out breaking the gears in procedure" looked and sounded really cool.
Lower, what diff did you use? I don't remember...and I've never seen a toothed spacer like that. |

It is a Dana 70 dually out of the '94 ford cube van that my drivetrain came out of. The toothed gear is for the abs, but I am using it for a speed sensor. The ring presses onto the OD of the carrier and there is a 2 wire sensor that reads it.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
So today I decided to put some tunes in the truck I already had the amp and bought some 6x9 speakers and boxes they will go in the cab corners. I mounted the amp under the passenger seat. I am running rca from the amp to a headphone jack and can plug in my phone or ipod. I hooked it up enough to try and sounds really good.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
OK the gears are so much better, and it really pulls like a freight train now
Question time post your guesses on how much my GMC weighs. I am going to put it across the scales at the city dump tomorrow. I will also try and get the 50/50 split weight as well. I will post up Thursday or Friday eve, when I get a bunch of guesses. I will subtract myself and calculate out the fuel.
