Re: PO has me PO'd
Thanks AJ, eventually I'll build it for some low end torque, maybe a BigSmallBlock 400 stroked, and then I'll be in your Cubic Inch range
Mike, gotta get back to you on part numbers...congrats on the Masters first attempt on the flange removal was a bandsaw, to get most of the meat off. Then some creative grinding, couldn't find my hub nut removal thingy, so I just used the cutoff wheel. It got into some tight spots, so it worked out. Don't use it without the guard!!! Studs had to be chased, junk part that needed extra work! A little anti-seize, a coat of Eastwoods Stainless Steel coating and I will be good to go ![]() ![]() ![]()

Got an hour or two to work on my fuel line over the weekend
![]() ![]() IMHO, GMPP got this one wrong, 1/8" gap between intake runners and heads.Intake bolts up, just doesn't cover the intake ports...gotta buy another intake ![]()

Talked to them today, even had a case started, the smmmmaaaalllll print states that you must use a extended runner intake manifold (by .200") to run Vortec heads, seems that even though the early style intake will bolt up, w/o the extended runner design there will be a gap My apologies to GMPP, you were right, I was wrong. Should have read all the printed information on the page, as it states to use a specific intake

Re: PO has me PO'd
That's amazing to me. Is there going to be an intake out there that does cover those gaps?

Re: PO has me PO'd
Those heads appear to be the Vortec style bolt pattern with the taller intake ports.

If I understand this correctly, they weren't the heads you wanted in the first place but you installed them anyway?? You won't have to worry about lack of low end torque with vortec heads. They only have 170cc intake runners, and with the taller ports they have a better short turn radius. They make gobs of torque. They are actually a much better choice than the standard port heads you initially wanted. |

---------------- At the time I installed them, I thought they were the heads I ordered, until I realized it, it was to late. My focus was on the poor quality of the machining, and I just forgot to check the details You won't have to worry about lack of low end torque with vortec heads. They only have 170cc intake runners, and with the taller ports they have a better short turn radius. They make gobs of torque. Re: PO has me PO'd
AHHHHH, now I see. Didn't realize that was one of the differences with the Vortecs. I'm not as amazed now...
I can see your frustration, though. If it were me, I'd probably get a SCREAMING deal from Jegs on the right intake, like their cost plus free shipping. They're going to turn around and get the money back out of GMPP anyway...

Re: PO has me PO'd
back to where I was a month ago...got to do some engine wiring for the engine temp. and fan wires, still working on the electric choke
March was kind enough to send me the bolt and spacer for the alt. at no charge w/ shipping since I lost it in the workshop, well, its not lost just put it in a safe place so I wouldn't misplace it ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: PO has me PO'd
Got some time to cut off the last flange on the exhaust manifold, cutoff wheels do a very good job on cast iron, just a little filing and ready for coating

Re: PO has me PO'd
Don't really need any large parts, except bed wood and paint (to include body work). Sourkraut (John) bought some bedsides and header panel off him though.
I asked when he was having a banana eating contest at the show! I figure the local Hooters girls are available for a dual promotion event! ![]()
