No Tulsa trip, I got done with the truck @4pm Sunday.
We are going to try and go this coming weekend if Randy is free.

Yep, I drove it this morning
I like them!
I think I have a driveshaft vibration though, guess it might need the whole thing balanced.

I might be cheap and easy, but I am not free! I should be available this weekend. Next weekend the wife is going out of town (to go see Garth in Vegas, girls weekend thing) and I'll have the boy to entertain all the time. But fairly sure this weekend is no issue at all.

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

Unless his wife was secretly taking photos, I don't think we got any. About all he has for a memory is a slight stench of gasoline for the trip home. His truck looked good though, looked lower than I remember the last photo being. Probably one of those "in person" type things.
Now I'm wondering if he'll swap out the entire right rear door shell, or do all the work changing the door glass. Would be soooooo much easier swapping the door as an assembly!

I even had the A/C on in the shop for him. Actually I went in about 9am this morning and worked for a hour or so, got to sweating so bad I closed the doors and kicked the units on. Was still 90 degrees inside when he got there, but I promise it was better than what it was before. It was tolerable at least.

Was good meeting you Joe, and the wife and kids. I'm sure once I get my old red beater going I'll make it over for a get together sometime.

Yep we made the trip today. The crew ran great. It will maintain 75MPH even up hills with out the converter unlocking or down shifting. But the A/C sucks. I gotta investigate further as to why.

I got your cluster and you can get it anytime.

Thanks again Randy!
Sorry, no pics
I said it before and I'll say it again, I love your shop! It felt nice in there.

I think I'll swap the glass so I can keep the blue door theme

Nice to meet you too!

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

Taking those door shells off today reminded me why I like those exterior handles so much. On the front doors I was able to remove the one bolt that came out from the inside, then close the door and remove all the outside ones. Hold on to the lower hinge, push the handle button and remove it. Today's cars/trucks it is a two person job unless you have a door jack.

One thing I do like on modern vehicles though, is the use of a lot more connections on electrical wiring! Taking that loom out from under the hood was sort of a PITA compared to how easy it is on a newer truck. Same for the front doors, they needed to put a connection there in the kick panel.

That seems like a good price for the Boss's.

I know what you mean about spending money on the kids for school. It seems that now that I only have one still at home, I'm still spending the same amount on both of them.
