Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew

I've been on it! Wifey got me some rigid insulation for my shop doors so I did that and repaired / adjusted all that erector set hardware too. WAY BETTER - thanks Wifey!!!

I've got three solid days in trying to get that bed in shape. This stunt was way harder than I anticipated. Part of the issue was the damage to the bedsides before I even started. I welded the panels back up like a surgeon and thought I went really slow, skipping all over the place..... NOT! I annihilated my bed at all four corners with that welder. I ended up having to pound more holes in it and use the slide-hammer to get it close then hammered my fingers to the bone fixing that wreck. I'll still have a solid 1/8" of filler over all the seams. The inside panels are hell too. I used a piece of plate as a dolly and hammered every little ding I could find in the front panel flat and have decided to use the Raptor Liner (color matched) on the insides on all four sides (inside of tail gate too) as well as the wheel tubs. I cut them stake pockets out, made patches from my section drops, got those all tacked in pretty-like, welded them home and my bed rails looked like hockey sticks! Cut that back apart and used more clamps and such. We tossed the bed on the frame for a look and I'm EXCITED!! The track width of my rear end / wheels and such is PERFECT! Wheel is centered in the opening and isn't hanging out. I threw a tub on there and I've got at least 1-1/2" of tire clearance on the inside. I got my first patch of filler down on one side and will roll from there.

Thanks dudes! I'd sure like to have one of them inline sanders. I looked at the HFT piece - China's finest - I'll pass. For now it's a P40 on a wood block.

Woooo Hooooo on the insulation. If it gets too cold I see you have an Elliptical to hop on to get a sweat going. Lol
Bed came out great. Onto the Blockin’ as Chip put it.
Are you leaving the suspension at the current height or are you planning on going a bit lower? Looks good but you know me. In dem weeds I like'em.

Johnny don't do no elliptical and I want that sucker outta the shop!

Right now I've got 2-1/2" drop spindles and 2" springs up front. I've got 5" springs in the back and expect to add blocks to make it 6". There's nothing on the frame (except my fat ass) so it looks really high. At fighting weight I think it should be a nice static ride height!

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew

If I can keep the pace up I should be putting epoxy on it soon. I've already wet sanded my cab but I have to go back and touch a few places. Hood should be ready for paint. Everything else is through metal, filler and epoxy but that's it! I've got a bit of sanding to do yet before any color. I think that once I've got the bed in expoxy, ready for high-build I'm going to jump on the chassis and motor. I'm afraid If I've got pretty panels hanging around for too long I'll ding them up!

Sounds like a good plan. I have had a heck of a time trying to coordinate my body work in my tiny shop. I'm constantly moving them around and scratches and dings happen.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew

I was on a roll then got booked for a couple weekends. The weather was getting nice then I plowed 6" of snow last night! Sheesh, I'm ready for some SUN!
Knuckle-head has been busy in the shop, got three motors and about five sets of heads torn to *hit, layin all over the place and some of MY tools out on loan! One of his pals is doing heads on a 350, another is rebuilding a 327 and the tall one is building a 454. All Chevy Trucks!

I'm going to hit it this weekend and will put up some photos.

Nice work. Great to get some extra insulation in those doors.

Still need to get over there and check out your project one of these days.

How are things going over east? My favorite thing about you shortening the bed is deleting that middle stake pocket. Great job taking a little extra time and IMO doing it right. Can't wait to see some paint on it

Thanks dude! I had considered filling the front and rear ones but it's a truck and I just don't think it'd look right without them.

Linky - Ingersoll Rand 315G Edge Series Straight Line Air... Ingersoll Rand 315G Edge Series Straight Line Air...
I got a roll of P80 longboard paper to go with. I expect this thing to boogey and it'll probably take some practice to control it. Will report!

I came across your thread for the first time today. I've seen you post in other threads and for some reason I've never clicked on your build thread link in your signature. Looks like I've been missing out. You've done a lot of work and it's looking good. I'll be following from here on. I wish I had a shop that big!

These are hard to beat for large areas. I had one for many years and finally wore it out. I keep telling myself I don't need a new one because I don't plan on doing that much bodywork going forward. And yet here I am ...still doing lots of bodywork. Sheesh!
