Did you have the wheels painted or powder coat? Very flashy! Nice.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Well it wasn't today. It was Monday. I yanked out the old front crossmember and installed my pancaked, 86 front crossmember with disc brakes. Don't have spindles yet. They are in the mail.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
[quote=bhc41051;7126727]just what i needed, odd thing thou without a spacer or spring, the inner hub that rides on the axle shaft will bottom out too far and cause the "teeth" of the locking hub part to just skip over the mating "teeth"!!! i plan to cut down the spacer that was oem in the non locking hub to close that gap, should be fine cuz it was already riding on the outer bearing anyway... any other suggestions?

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
A nice new pair of Flowtech Purple Hornies (glasspack mufflers) arrived today. We headed straight for the muffler shop and had them installed within 45 minutes! He retained all my hangers, and even my turn downs. He just surgically removed the old mufflers and inserted the new ones in the same exact locations. I hung on to the old mufflers as they last indefinitely. I'll probably have them installed in my daughters truck.
The dash cam videos turned out lousy, so we'll be shooting some new stuff with an IPhone hopefully tomorrow: In this photo the passenger side glasspack is installed, while the Flowtech Terminator (chambered muffler) remains to be done: Man these things sound sweet. At idle, the muffler rumble is noticeable. At full throttle they are about 80% as loud as when the cutouts are open!

Another "valuable" mod done. If you have to explain, they would not get it anyway. It really is great that you can and do continually tweak your truck for your own pleasure.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
We were at the muffler shop, and Ruthann stated "that's what makes this all worthwhile". She was referring to the continuous all day grin on my face! We mentioned to several people the truck itself was her birthday gift to me 23 years ago, and the mufflers are her gift for the latest birthday I had a couple days ago!
It's nice to be loved and supported! And here's a rather mediocre video I threw together until I can create something better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fU2f8ag7zuo

Found a unmolested, original as I can see, 66 c10 custom cab with all the options, that I'll need a chainsaw to rescue, IF I can find the owner and paperwork for.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
The night before last when the newly powder coated red rims came home, Nicola renamed them "The Girls" and asked if I wanted to take them to bed, based on how pleased I was with them.
Well, yesterday another small touch landed in the post from Spain, just love the internet. Metal centre cap badges for the wheels. Did not want to force the trim rings on before the tyres get fitted, but sure you get the idea. Anyway, today I wrapped up and stashed the wheels in the garage till I get around to fitting the new tyres to them. Today I also made an executive decision that I am selling the chrome smoothies, their caps and tyres on so that I can just keep the Rallyes on the truck. Way too many wheels about.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
PO madness, these pans had over 20 rivets each to hold them down and a layer of filler. would have been better to weld new metal in. instead of causing more rust, it looks worse the it is!!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Today I frenched in a set of 49 Pontiac tail lights in the 64 C10. It turned out pretty good I think. Next I need to cut the holes out in the roll pan to install the rear bumper brackets.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Not a lot.......
BUT Freecycle vs Council tip..... Well, I cut in and scored these two Peugeot 807 rear seats today before they got binned. I will keep one and pass one on to my mate Martin. Could be worked in between a pair of good bucket seats in the truck. Then the backrest acts as a table and cup holder, or as occasional seat for a third person.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Been prepping some parts just to keep moving forward on my 66. Didn't have much to do but my 15 year old son really like to use the sand blaster so I let him at it! LOL
I just sat there and kept the flow of sand going and he blasted almost all day long in the sun! Hey, at least it kept him outside with his old man learning about stuff.
