Truck came out beautifully and is a great tribute for your Dad. Great back story.

I don't feel worthy to provide input on the badge...if pressed I would vote to leave it off.

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride

Thanks man, the color took a lot of time to find, internet searches then going thru endless books at the paint store then painting actual samples.

Actual samples is the only way to go in my opinion. She is as quick as I will ever need her to be.

Thanks again!

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride

Did some more cruising tonight at higher speeds, 6th gear is 77mph at 1500rpms. 3.08 rear end, I'm happy with that.

License plate and bracket with light installed, I'm officially street legal.

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride

Still working out the bugs, speed controller for A/C fan went out, new one is on the way, bought the unit from vintage almost 4 years ago, they are sending free of charge, props. From the start I have had some issues with the throttle body, High Idle Code, a short rev up or it would die during coasting, then a dirty throttle body code and I knew that was wrong. So replaced the throttle body and all is good.

On to whatever comes next, HA!

Will pick up speakers and amp today to start the stereo install which is greatly needed so I can't hear every little noise the truck makes.

Have made several hard breaking runs and all is good, she stays straight and the pressure and touch required to make the tires squeal isn't bad at all. Also put her back on the lift and gave everything a once over, anyone think I'm paranoid?

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride

Thanks, you would think since I put every single bolt on this truck I could relax but it's just the opposite .

From the start I never just snugged anything that was important, I always torqued it down and if it need adjusting later I would loosen and re-torque. So I feel confident I haven't forgotten anything I'm just nervous about the unknown. It doesn't help that each test drive something comes up

I for sure don't want to hurt myself or anyone else so I think I'm proceeding with this truck the right way!

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July, I have a little less hair on my arms and ringing in my ears which is typical after the 4th at my house, so it was a good weekend

Drove the truck quite a bit this weekend, truck has about 500 miles counting the test drives during pre-assembly.

Installed the stereo system this weekend, 6 1/2" rounds in kick panels, 6x9's in boxes behind the seat, amp and sub under the seat, will post pictures later.

Drove it for an hour Saturday about 55 miles total with no issues. I was a little concerned that the tranny and diff combination was going to be a little tall but I'm pleased with the final results, below is the numbers:

Rear end: 3.08 Posi
Rear Tires: 285/50 R18
T56 6th Gear: .63

2,000 rpms - 4th 60mph, 5th 70mph, 6th 80mph

Vintage Air is now sending a new ECU as the A/C fan is still not working, this should do the trick.

Does that mean your going to add wings to the sides?... maybe hide them so they fold out at a certain speed?

Had my oldest Son make this negative space vinyl sticker from this photo, it turned out pretty cool I think.

Thanks brother, I like the way it turned out and it gives some ownership to my oldest who worked very hard to make it look good.

Went for a drive today and came across this beauty, not sure why she was parked out by the street, looks like it was purchased at Barrett Jackson:
