Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Lots of thinking tonight, not much doing. I did move the e-brake over 1.5 inches to make room for my giant wire hole.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Nice job on the AC. I think it hangs down less than my factory AC in my 68, and is cleaner looking without all the hoses and diverters. Paint it flat black and it should disappear. Looking good. Jim

I'm offline for a weekend and 2.5 more pages show up on this build! That's cool! It's one of the ones to watch for sure!

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Tonight I piddled around with the 6.0 Denali exhaust. All of the down pipes are a quarter inch bigger and the manifolds are a newer design (2005) and look a little better. Honestly they look like shorty headers. Nice !

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

High and tight, neat and tidy, that's how I like it.

Much better at my second attempt at the exhaust system. I still have 1 cat to get rid of, but should be done tomorrow.

The best part is that I get to use the stout factory exhaust hangars, not that flimsy strap junk with holes the muffler shops use.

That looks like a great fit. Nice job! Please tell me you'll spray it with high heat black or silver. The rest of the undercarriage is sooo pretty

Won't it just burn off? Do you know of one that stays put? I've never had much luck.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

I used the higher rated heat spray paint made for headers off the shelf from advance and it stayed on my camaro's exhaust for 75K daily driven miles.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

these factory exhausts are aluminized, here at the carlot our detail shop sprays the exhausts pipes and mufflers down with acid and then pressure wash them off and then they look like aluminum again

boy, looking at that 3rd picture from the top in post #790, it looks like the driveshaft is going to be pretty close to what ever that thing is on the left behind the airtank...a pump or something?

It is close, I had the driveshaft installed once to check. Its about a half inch off of the carrier bearing mount.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Took what was left of the Denali to the scrap yard (highly recommended).

Got $300 bucks!

On another note, If you ever want to know how much your truck weighs, take some scrap to your local scrap yard in your truck bed. You drive across scales when you go in and leave and the difference is what they pay you on. When you leave empty now, you have your truck's weight printed out. Take off yourself and there you go. Free!

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Finished up the exhaust as promised. LOVE the factory hangars! I will have to get the tail pipes fitted at a muffler shop later, but this will be great to drive around until then. Last shot shows it higher than the frame rail. I am so stoked! All I need now is my Brown Santa to bring the paint.
