Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window
came home to this.....thanks Josh! It's just about there. Would y'all recommend spraying a few coats of automotive clear, followed by wetsanding, buffing, polishing, to get it looking like glass? I want to make sure it's compatible. He was also really busy with the bed and it's pretty close to being ready for red!

Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window
Is that Outdoor Spar Uerathane? Don't use auto clear on it. Looks great!!!!! If so wet sand it with 1200 to get slick then with 2000 grit, clean it then buff it. I used McGuires polish #1 cut and got great results after the buffing, wax it with some really good wax and buff it again then apply it by hand and just wipe it off. If you need help let me know!!!

Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window
Looks awesome! Yeah I wouldn't spray automotive clear on top of that other stuff, it will do some neat stuff you're not gonna like.

Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window
Looks great! What is compatible is Epoxy! you can thin it down, spray it to get the build. Epoxy is also much denser and creates a harder surface. The only down side is you must spray Spar Varnish over it again as Epoxy is not UV resistant. You can then sand and buff without excessive yellowing from the Spar Var...

Thanks a lot, just want to flatten it out a little bit! Not much to see on the bed, but I'll try to get some pictures up later. Right now I'm bodyworking everything so there isn't much progress that you'd be able to see in pics. |

Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window
bodyworking a stepside bed is FUN............
We bolted up the fenders today in order to get the tops of the fenders and bedsides straight. Everything's looking really straight right now and they'll probably come off today and get hit with some more high build. When it comes apart, it's probably not going back together til it's red! |

Thanks not too much longer.. Quote:
Should be done with bodywork tomorrow.....hoping to get a final coat of high build on and maybe even the black sealer coat... Also going to try and buff and polish the wood. It'll show a little bit of grain which I like, but it'll be super slick. |
