Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Holy loudness. I am running dual Flowmaster super 40s and they sound amazing unles I drive next to a wall or Ina tunnel. Then, the result is deafness! I dont even turn on my stereo beacuse I wouldnt be able to hear it if I did... Lol
Which mufflers are those?

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Muffs are Flowmaster Super 10 Series.
I researched quite a bit and want that crispy sound. 10:1 roller 327 baby! I'll do a balance pipe and tailpipe clear over the axle, out each side. 2-1/2" all the way. Still waffling on where to put the muffs. In front of the member or behind? Pros and cons each way....

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Dude, I love that 3+3, always wanted a full 4dr truck!
I have my mufflers after the crossmember and dumps in front of the rear wheels. If I had it to do over again, I would go out the rear. It sounds awesome but when it bounces off other cars and walls on either side, it is sooooo loud. People roll up their windows at stop lights...

X2! That looks like (gasp) real work on the Crummy! BOOOOO! Glad 'Ol Crum is back on it's feet.
And, the winner in the Shortest Muffler Ever category is... John Sanborn! I have to say, If I lived at your place, nothing would ever get done. I'd just be standing in the driveway with a beer, watching the scenery like an idiot. It's pretty there!

I honestly can't wait to see Crummy get cleaned up... I have been wanting a 3+3 for a while now. I wouldn't mind a 90s model 4dr but prefer the 80s model.

Oh yeah, if you're blockin' down another inch, and you know your angle needs, blocks are stupid easy to make and shave for angle, especially if you have access to a Bridgeport. Which i bet in your gig a case of beer could make happen. directions here-Post 368.

Been there. Better to take a break than git out there when not motivated. Quickest way for me to suffer burn out.
You could clean the shop though. That always gets me turned around. Broom, dust pan, some lemon fresh Pledge......clean time done......... Put a wrench in my hand! |

*uckin $hit-storm in here lately. With the Boy, it's like a truck fixin' convinience store. Gotta teach him to get some skin when he's sorting out OPP! We swept up and all tools are in check. Cross member is basically there and I got a few sheckles to buy some bent pipe for exhaust. Crummy need some love tho and I ain't got much firewood out there I prolly think about Boppa's 5.3 just about as much as you do Chip. That's gonna be a sweet ride for him and it's just soooo cool that you did that for your Pa. I'd be proud if I could do the same. My Pa has a '75 Silverado that he uses like a dozer. I have some good pics too. I'd love to whip that thing into shape for him. He'd park the 2014 Subaru, I'm sure. Thanks for hanging in dudes. I WILL FINISH THIS TRUCK and it's gonna be bit*hin!

Ain't been sittin on my rear. Mad firewood season (plus some for the shop!), fixin' everyone else's cars, etc... Everything is stashed away in holding pattern but it's coming soon.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
The Boy should be seeing Big Brown today we hope, for his new rotating assembly. His heads are rebuilt, ready to go and he's got a fresh four-bolt on the stand already. I'll update Punching Bag with some assembly photos here soon.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Trying to get this thing back on track, get on a little roll here! I got the shop looking good, pile of firewood and a couple cylinders filled. I ordered up a "builder kit" from Columbia River Mandrel Bends. 2-1/2" aluminized stuff. I also got one of them expander dealios from HFT to make slip joints. Just got started last night. Using hose clamps to help mark the tubes for cuts on the radiuses and also to hold them together as I mock it all up. Works great, you can twist the joint to where you likey then tighten the clamp. I'll tack together what I've gotten done here then move to the other side, then build a balance pipe.
Mcbassin showed us how to make perfect ports in the cross member but I don't have a hole saw that big or a motor that'd turn one. So, blue-tip and a burr. Still scratchin my head a bit on the back half. Sure wanna go over the axle but dunno if that's really gonna happen.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Good looking start there, John. Mandrel bends look so much nicer than the muffler shop bends. I stopped at the rear axle on CRLS due to space limitations from the rear mounted fuel tank. But on the silver truck I was able to run it all the way back to the roll pan. You may want your exit as far back as possible. Those Flowmaster (?) cans look like they may operate in the upper dB range.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Junior put the same "mufflers" on Punching Bag. Here's a clip of those from that thread.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sf-yQvmeT28 He's got headers, about two feet of pipe then the 10's right under the seat. The highway drone is ridiculous. When it's running in the driveway, sh1t falls off the walls in the house - really. I'm hopeful that mine won't be quite as raw
