Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

Actually, in 2003 they got rid of the grandfather clause for pre-'88 vehicles. I had an '87 Caprice for a daily that I bought partially because of that law, but it's nil now.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

Well, then you got lucky that he was still oldschool and hadn't heard about the updated laws. "Classic" had nothing to do with it. It was just that pre-'88 vehicles were exempt from the tint regulations. I believe the reasoning was because they didn't start enforcing tint regulations until '88.

yeah i like them there really clean looking... but if you get some you have to have the holes machined into the valve covers for the pcv valve and oil breather

I'll second that! I keep thinking about doing this when my engine gives up or I get bored. How hard was the swap? Did your gas mileage improve?

well i still have some work to do with the gauges so i haven't been able to tell with gas mileage since my gas gauge hasn't been working but it was mostly straight forward. my truck originally had the 4.3l v6 with a 5 speed so i had to go buy motor mounts from a v8 truck from this era and then i just used motor mount adapters and i also put in a 4l60e transmission. I would recommend trying it, my truck is a lot of fun to drive now. I don't have a documentation of the build but i do have more pictures if wanted.

Definitely. There have been a few LS swaps on here, but this is the first one that's exactly what I've been thinking about. Is the 5.3 all stock inside? And did the computer have to be reprogrammed to run the 4L60E? Are you running A/C?

Oh, and Devlin, your project looks killer...

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

OK here it is, 1988 GMC 2500 regular cab. 350/5.7 auto 2X4.

Got a ways to go, but I'm slowly getting there. Still need to fix passenger door windows and locks (power). Replace radiator and general mechanical fixes. Nothing too major.

Okay, I'm hoping this worked. If so there's a shot of my '88 Chevy C-1500. If not I'll try again to post this photo and give a description of my truck.
