Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale!
even though i personally think they look ugly, went with stock pillars this time have been thinking along these lines for a motor. only thing that bugs me, it's not a very "symmetrical" looking set-up, looks a little lop-sided to me... maybe a little overkill for a 4by..? either way, the plan is to bling the six up a bit did have a big set back on the int. i'm guessing i must have accidently knocked my bag of int parts off the bench into my garbage can, cause i have ripped my room apart 2wice, and found nothing, and these are'nt small parts... i tried to scab the '66's floor pan, seat and door panels onto the '60's, but as you can see, it looks like s**t, nothing matches at all, not even the seat pattern... this is a bummer, took the wind out of my sails on it....temporarily |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
...'till today...
remember the '66 sub my wife pre-ordered the other month, well ye haw, look what showed up in the mail today here's what the rest of it looks like. a lot of the '66 truck tooling here. chrome rack is lifted right from the pickups. like the 2 piece barn doors. decals are'nt bad either, dont have to print up gauge decals for it going to build this one now, '60 crew is on hold 'till i can figure out another int. plan is to get rid of the glass and turn it into a 4x4 panel sub |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
That's a shame about the interior. But the Suburban looks really cool.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
ya, ripped my room apart again, pretty sure it's gone. may take some time, but i will figure out something...
have'nt got a lot on the sub done. still waiting for tires and stuff, and i been prepping for our holidays next week... found a really, really old can of paint in the shop, thinking this is the oldest can i have found so far, googled the label, from the mid to late '80's i think.... been fighting with it last few days, having a heck of a time making it work, wont spray worth a darn, really lumpy (?) it acts like old paint, but i'm persistant and am trying to make it work, cause i'm really digging the color been trying to get it to flow, getting there, test piece took a chance and sprayed the dash and seats with it, also hit the seats with some Dull-cote so they were'nt so shiny..pretty plain inside now that it's a panel. thinking adding some wood in there. the low-backs are from the parts box a little worried 'bout spraying the body with this stuff, but if it goes south, i'll strip it and try something else.. |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
ya, hoping it does go on nice....(fingers crossed..)
but not for a bit. was supposed to leave on holidays today, but some major accidents, forest fires and other stuff has shut down a bunch of the roads heading out. so we postponed leaving 'till tomorrow. and got a little bit more done today...like i said, being a panel now, it was kinda plain, so....a little bit of basswood and some more junk showed up in the mail on fri, t-cases, axles and tires got the front springs mounted up |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
It's looking fantastic. We're having fire problems too. I've had a rough couple of weeks too. I had a lymphnode swell up. As a lymphoma survivor, I was a nervous wreck. I went to the doctor and did all the cancer tests. The doc said 9 years would be uncommon for it to come back. BOOM!!! test results are back and I'm still cancer free. I'm taking some pills that remind me of chemo (diareah and puking) but supposed to take the lymphnode back to normal size. If not they're gonna slit my throat and remove it...lol...But at least I'm still cancer free....Wooooohoooooo!. Vacations are always too short.. That's why they invented retirement. Hope I get to see it...lol

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
hey, wow! best of luck with that Dale, cancer sucks!
my wife is also a cancer survivor and goes in every 5 yrs for a biopsy. they removed a whole lot of parts from her, but she is coming up on 15 yrs now. sadly i got some other crappy news last friday. my puppy dieseldawg has been acting weird lately and a lot of pain in his hind end. took him in for blood tests (he's 11 1/2 yrs old) and the results came back as canine soft tissue sarcoma, a kinda common canine cancer. i know he is very old for his size, but i'm going to throw $600 down on him and have it surgically removed, if it has'nt spread, he should hopefully just end up with a big indent in his hind leg....dont know if i'm ready to say goodbye to my fur-baby yet.... retirement....hmmm, shooting for "Freedom 75", none of that freedom 55 here.... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale!
how's yourself? Dawg seems to be surviving having a piece of his leg cut out. it was cancer, but it had'nt spread-yeah! he sure was dopey thursday, staggering around..... they took about a 3" chunk by about a half inch thick out of his hind leg glassy-eyed puppy... some crap news, the only hobby shop within 50 miles from me, where i get 90% of my materials, closed down a couple weeks ago....going to make things harder...went and bought as much as i could, they did'nt have much, some company/entity whatever came in and bought most of the stock. had no 3/32 tubing left, which i use for exhaust pipe, so i used some alum. rod on the panel. also grabbed a roll of solder, it should make nice pipes too |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
I'm fine, they're talking about removing the swollen lymphnode. The truck looks totally awesome. It's too bad about the hobby store closing.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
wow, last post was like 2 mos. ago, dont seem like it...how's that thing go, the older ya get, the faster time goes.......
welp it really does suck not having a hobby shop even close by anymore. tried online, but the shipping for anything north of the 49th parallel is beyond stupid now, shipping is routinely more than the item i'm buying.... and still taking a huge hit on the dollar exchange....with the double whammy a $25 kit down there turns into a $60-$80 kit for me. and it's now also approx a 120 mile drive to the nearest hobby store, which so far i have'nt done... would really like to finish the '60, but for reasons above, having a hard time finding another interior for it also got one of these, but i already have a round eye blaze. want to get a '84 GMC (Deserter) and swap the front clip so i got a square eye blaze and a round eye short fleet, which surprisingly i dont have.... so this one also sits and i got this '99 1500 super cab that the dawg broke awhile ago. not really into building modern trucks so it sat too. then i found the lowered version of the 1500 for $10, so i grabbed it to make one of my favorite body styles, a crewcab longbox. if i could'nt make a crew out of it, prob would have never done nothing with it. just a filler till i can get what i need for the other trucks...lol choppin' up short boxes... |

chopping and splicing cabs
eliminating the body rub strip and the 1500 emblems. going to be a 3500 now. wanted to get the majority of the bodywork done before i added door handles and panel lines rain day tomorrow- no work. hoping to make the body a nice cohesive unit.... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale, but it is just a little too new for me...
i'm more into old-ness stretched out the interior... and i noticed the 2500 and 3500's have a raised hood, so it will now be a 1500HD crew instead really not sure, the 38's are looking kinda small on there, maybe some 42's or 44's. plan is to coil the the front axle |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
I like it, the coils up front will look cool. I'm hoping they lift the evac order so I can go home today. It's been 6 days.
