Body work isn't my speciality either. The nice thing about the cab floor, it's mostly hidden so there's no reason to get too carried away

Nothing done since last wednesday. I took off all weekend, mostly because of not having any heat in the shop, but I've been a little under the weather too. Hope to be back on it wed. Basketball season should be over soon and I will be able to hit it just about any night of the week.

I can not believe how much I have missed on this thread! You have accomplished so much and have made so much one off pieces for you truck. Amazing quality and work. Keep it up and soon you will have a gorgeous truck that you can call your own and that you built it!

Thanks for stopping by James and the compliments. It has taken a few turns here and there. Right now I'm up to my elbows in self inflicted rust repair. It's not hard, just very frustrating because of the poor fitment of the patch panels.

I did this "new" cab mostly to practice for the upcoming Camaro restoration. I sure hope the Camaro patches fit better than this crap. I swear there are some pieces that weren't even close!

I'm not sure why one of the bigger companies like LMC, Brothers, Classic etc. doesn't invest in quality patch panels? Do they think we wouldn't pay more for panels that fit? and are the correct gauge? Sure it's cool that most are cheap but of all the pieces I used only one was a "good" fit. It was the rear pan patch from LMC not cheap $49+shipping. The next best fits were the cab corners (old school Tabco corners from the 90s)
I would have paid that or more for good fitting front, kick panel, lower pillar, etc. Most parts were tri-plus or key parts.
On the Camaro....I have a 67 and a 68 I'm thinking the 67 will get the knife first....we'll see?

Well finally an update. First, I want to tell you guys this has been a rough couple of weeks. This floor rust repair is not the easiest. If you don't have plenty of time at your disposal forget it! Most of my frustration stems from the very poorly shaped and sized patch panels. The floor is basically done now. Still a lot more to do to the cab but the hard part is over.

Had this piece fitted but had to section it after it pulled almost a 1/4"

Installed a spreader brace to hold pillar in position.

looks great again mike! Q where did you buy your front floor pan? I have one from classic on I35 but it doesnt have the down brake at the front to match the firewall bottom. I can bend it no prob just annoying having to modify these parts. That and its 1.0mm a little thin. On my parts they range from 1.0mm,1.2mm,1.4mm. mine are all triplus/key parts. I would like atleast 1.2mm floor, do you know what thickness yours was? a lot of times classic will stick they're pn sticker over the triplus sticker. Oh also where are you buying the weld through primer? I cant find any, maybe not looking hard enough. Im waiting to finishing mine after buying a bottle so I dont loose the rest of my hair on the flux core.

I bought the floor pans from Kenny's trucks but they are the same as LMC. It is pretty thin like .035" thick I think? (not correct to the oem) Mine didn't have the brake at the front either. If you are doing a short repair like I did on the driver side it's not too bad. But because the panel shape is off it pulled when I got it where it need to be at the seam. In hindsite, I should have left the gap at the front seam and made the floor match. I had no less than 15 hours in just the front pan and kick panel (another POS!).

The UPOL weld through primer I ordered online. HERE is where I got mine from. It was 2 years ago though. You may be able to find it somewhere else cheaper? I haven't seen it locally, but maybe one of OKC car paint stores carry it?

Thanks Drew, You are welcome to use mine any time. The passenger side didn't spot weld as good as the driver. I'm not sure if I waited too long after the weld through primer was added or what? I ended up drilling and mig welding half of it. When I "tweaked" the rocker it broke several of the spot welds. Ideally, I think bare metal to metal works the best for spot welds but I was worried about rust starting right away so I coated both with the Upol.
