Since I have a lot of surface area to cover I am using a Polycarbide disk on a side angle grinder to get the bulk of the surface rust, I still need to go back and hit all the cracks and crevices with a wire wheel to finish it off.

Thanks, yeah I lucked out on it, but like any other cab it has it's issues mostly because of the repair work, a lot of it was seam welded instead of butt welded so the cab corners will have to be cut out and replaced even though they are new, but the rest of it I can live with because it's all in the floor and will be covered up by carpet anyway.

One interesting thing to note, even though this truck is a 1972 it has no provision for a cargo lamp, which is fine by me because if it would have had one I was going to delete it anyway so less work for me.

Hey all:
It's officially winter here in Kansas so the tarps are on and the project is on hold until spring.
There probably wont be many updates this winter as all I will be doing is collecting parts and getting ready to hit it hard as soon as the weather turns nice again.

I don't have a 68 frame to look at, but is the "dimple" the same as would be on a '71-'72? I do have one each of those to look at.

I will be putting PS on my 67 (a new box supposedly for a 67). Do you have any input as to what hurdles I will encounter. How would you recommend dealing with them? I know PS was available on a '67, so there must be a factory-type solution.

I found that the easiest way to solve any future issues is to just follow Brian's advice and just dimple the frame. I thought about just adding spacers, but where I was setting on my build was to dimple the frame. I don't know where you are with your build.

If your frame doesn't have the dimple for the power steering just simply add it, done and done.

yeah--looks straightforward enough. I had to put a return hose on my 72 this afternoon, so I got a closer look at the dimple than I wanted.

It seems like it's been a long winter and boy am I itching to work on my pickup again, according to the weather man there are some nice days ahead this week and I plan to take advantage.
I haven't even looked at it in 3 months but I know there is a lot of work to do.
First things first, I need to finish removing the surface rust on the Cab and seal it back up since I didn't have time to get it all done before the weather got too cold.
I need to look underneath at the exterior cab floor and see what has been done to it and if it hasn't been done undercoat it.
Once that is all done I will see what I wan't to do next.

Hey all;
It's spring and once again it's time to start working on the pickup.
Today I took the 72' front suspension crossmember down to the sandblaster, I will have it back in a few days.
I've decided to drop the pickup another couple inches and I'm looking at the CPP modular drop spindle and 2" drop blocks.
That will give me a total drop of 4/6 which combined with the front and rear sway bar and 4-wheel disk the pickup should handle and brake well.

I ordered the CPP Modular drop spindles and stock disk brake brackets, 2" drop blocks and Trailing arm crossmember.
The front suspension crossmember is ready to be picked up from the Media Blaster so I will go get that today.

I got those modulars! But I have a 1.5" lowering blocks but I got those from POL!

Hey all;
The media blaster did a good job on the front suspension crossmember and I needed to get some paint on it fast so here it is a can and a half of krylon rust tough later.
It felt good to get something done on the old girl after being forced to take so much time off due to winter.
Stay tuned guys because there is going to be some thrashing going on, complete frame and cab swap, out with the old in with the new!
