Re: 1969 Short Wide

Little update.
With some help from Mark (Crash OK) I got the exhaust intereference figured out. Made one cut on each pipe, rotated them slightly; which dropped them about 1.25". After that welded them back up. I think the cab will fit perfect now after the high hump tunnel is installed.

WOW you got busy after I left.

When do you want to sit the cab back on the frame

Thanks. I used Matrix seam sealer by Evercoat. Then Por-15 paint.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

A little update. Not a whole lot of progress but it is what it is. This time of year my fishing and golf kind of fills up the weekends.
I got the last of the rust killed (I think). Then cut the high hump tranny cover hole in the floor. Then started fitting the buckets. I got some information about drilling the holes HERE. I made some braces from old ball bearing drawer slides. They are the same thickness and near the same shape as the OEM braces. Hope to have some POR-15 on the bottom this week.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Seat install turned out nice Mike! So are those from a 67-72 truck? I thought they only had that buddy bucket option. I like that setup with the console better than the middle seat. must have been a rare option?

Thanks Dan, Yes they are out of a 71-72 specifically. Notice the scrolls on the seat cover. The 69-70 has a wider single scroll right down the center instead (screaminchevypickup taught me that). And of course the 67-68 had the buddy buckets. I'm pretty sure any buckets were a rare option. I got lucky and found these local for a good price and they are in real good condition.

Nice job on relocating the seat mounting holes! I'll have to reference this thread when I get to that point as I'm wanting to put late model buckets in mine as well. Thanks for sharing!

Working on it Kyle. I actually started flinging mud at the firewall last night. I almost forgot how much I love the smell of filler.

Great work and sweet idea on the drawer slides for support brackets! I might steal your idea if I can find some old slides.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Time for an overdue update. I have been working on the cab. But it has been slow going. This time of year really slows progress, a lot of other things going on.
On to the pictures.

Got the bottom of the cab painted with Por-15

Got the high hump painted and installed

Prepped under the dash for paint

Cut the firewall for the old style Vintage/air kit. I will be making a custom billet cover to keep it clean.

Made a mount for the DBW pedal. Notice the pedal arm had to be sectioned to get the angle close to the original.

Started bodywork on the firewall and epoxy primered
