Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...

Got the gas fill lines in, gas pedal redone, wire for rear view mirror ran, wire for spot light ran, under hood wiring about done, and a bunch of other little stuff. I like messing with wiring almost as much as running a piece of sand paper.
I didn't start it because, no gas in the tank yet, but.... I did bump it over with the KEY! Yeah, it made me grin, lol.

I used to pick up all my tools and put everything away after I was done for the day. I've decided thats just a big waste of time, lol. Oh what a mess. The rest of the garage looks like this too, lol.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...

There are screw drivers layin' all over the place and I still can never find one when I need it, lol... I can't wait till some stuff it paid for. I have a future plan of going full tilt on a garage of my own, lol. Well maybe not full tilt, haven't decided on if I need/want a lift yet, haha.

Got the headlights working today. I did the relay mod and the lights are bright. Its a very easy and worthwhile mod.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...

I put in a little power distribution block I got from the help section in the local auto parts store. It made it easier to wire up the stereo constant, rearview mirror, spot lamp, and cigarette lighter. Not pretty but it works. Got a few other things buttoned up, tranny cover and boots, steering column, dash guages, windshield washer fluid tank, rearview mirror plug soldered, etc.
It was a long day. Still haven't fired it up yet. All I gotta do is add fuel, lol. The wiring is mostly done other than chasing down gremlins. The horn, dash lights, and several other things too, lol.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...

FIRED IT UP TONIGHT! Yeah, that deserves all caps, lol. Took a minute to start it though. I didn't have the connector pushed onto the spade in the HEI, but beside it. That was one of those "Dammit" moments. Started laying out the way I want the sound system to go in. Shouldn't be too big a deal. I just hope the amps work, I powered them on but put no sound through them yet. Maybe tomorrow. The tach works, fuel guage works, oil pressures good, not sure if the speedo works, lol. I haven't found the wire for the temp guage yet but its in there somewhere. The amp guage didn't move but that could be a bad alternator, its one that I had laying around and no idea where it came from. I'll upgrade that when I get some dough anyways. Started to mount the under hood light that I took off a late model Chevy pickup. Not sure if thats where I want it or not. Heres a few pics. I forgot my camera so these are cell pics, not quite as good but still visible.

Heres the amps, one Kenwood 1000 watt sub amp and one Fosgate 140 watt to push two 6x9's.

My amp gauge never moves much. If I drain the Battery a little it will move while it is charging.

Cool, thanks for the input. I never drove it when I first got it so I didn't know what it was supposed to do. Still have to find the temp guage wire. I think its dark green but theres no dark green wire hangin'.

Do you have the color wiring diagram? If not I can email it to you.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...

J. my temp. wire(green) comes out of the bulkhead connector(left hand side of the bulkhead connecter which is the engine harness) top, second wire in to the right

If this doesn't make sense, as I'm confused and I'm looking at it, I'll take a pic. for you

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...

Got a few things ironed out. Wipers are fixed, still no washer spray, could be a bad switch or who knows, lol. I layed all the stereo stuff out the way it needs to go and it all works, amps are good to go. Now I just need to run all the wiring to where its supposed to go.

If I decide to be ambitious I want to fiberglass in an enclosure into the side panel. Otherwise it'll be a wood box built into the side panel. Mainly depends on the cost of the supplies to do the fiberglass. I got all the stereo wiring ran tonight. Took awhile but its done.

There's a rubber diaphram for the washer spray on the wiper motor, once those crack, it won't spray.

Does it sound like it's trying when you push the knob?
