Re: 1958 Apache 38 Dually Dump Project

I like you like the hugger orange , probably because my 65 is going orange and with a white top . The blue and silver does suit the shape of your truck . But in the end it's your call

Red and black would be sweet. Blue and a silver would be cool too. Nice progress none the less though!

Re: 1958 Apache 38 Dually Dump Project

I am a dyed-in-the-wool red lover (as my build thread shows). And I usually don't like very many vehicles in blue. But I love, love, love the mid 60's Chevrolet Marina Blue. At the risk of annoying regular members who have seen me post this before, I have a photo of a 55-56 3200 in this color and I think it looks great. It would combine with a nice silver REALLY well.

Here it is:

PS: I've really enjoyed your thread. Thanks for being so good about continuing it.

Re: 1958 Apache 38 Dually Dump Project

I agree with the Chevy colors, but you know those are new Corvettes right not a '58 truck, the body lines don't match at all! LOL
Nice colors tho.

How are you thinking about the blue/silver combo? Above/below body line?

Cheers, Jim

Re: 1958 Apache 38 Dually Dump Project

I like the idea of a blue upper / silver lower. that's just the reverse of what most people would do. how about printing a B&W picture of the truck & then taking some colored markers to it to get an idea.

Looks great . Crazy the amount of time body work takes . And you started with a good truck! It's amazing what we have to fix up here in the rust belt. You guys scrap stuff we would think is gold daily.

Keep up the great work.

Me personally, I would do metal flake gold and some black pin striping on there.

Interesting...
I think it would really make the truck unique especially with the right pin-striping.

Re: 1958 Apache 38 Dually Dump Project

Maybe I missed it but did you weld shut or use filler over the internal cab roof seams? In one of the photos it looks like they’re no longer visible.

If welded, was this problematic, or just slow to keep from warping?

If filled, did you use filler with fiber in it aka “kitty hair” filler or just ordinary filler?

Thanks for any info.
