Re: SPID Picture thread?
I submit this as the most plain truck possible. Not even a color.

White exterior to generalize is no color but the black trim is all colors........... Seriously though the superplain trucks in some case only list the model and exterior color, trim unstated.

Re: SPID Picture thread?
Yea I've seen plain trucks without trim listed but the black/white contrast of this truck and that is the only thing listed struck me as funny. I'm glad you get the humor too. I was also just telling my buddy that depending on if you're a scientist or an artist, you see black and white as either no color or all colors. White to an artist is the absence of colors but to a science guy white is all colors. Black the reverse. So if you look at it as a science guy on the inside and an artist on the outside, this truck has nothing.

Re: SPID Picture thread?
I thought I stumbled upon a RPO/option decoder somewhere, but can't seem to locate it.
Could those in the know shed some light on the less obvious options here? I believe it's a 50th, 6cyl, PS, Turbo 400 (or 350?). What about "HD rear Spring" and "Auxilary Spring Equip"? (I just purchased the truck, ...being picked up shortly) Thanks, Kevin Since I had Jeff remake a SPID for me, I'm adding a pic here for clarity... Last edited by KevinK7; 05-25-2018 at 08:10 AM. Most of the options are clearly described. 292 straight 6cyl with optional oil bath air cleaner and a TH400, 3 speed automatic. Should have open 3.73 gears since an optional ratio/posi isn't listed. G50 HD rear coil springs upgrade G60 Aux were quarter leaf helper springs behind the axle. Sounds like a nice truck so post a picture when you can.

Thanks for the response. I'll definitely post some pics once it's home. I have heard of those (G60) helper springs, but had no idea they were available with coils (thought just leafs). I'm new with these trucks, so learning a lot. Thanks again, Kevin Was going to say I never saw an "oil bath" filter, but did some digging, and of course it's been a topic in the past ; ) http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=470439&page=2 Last edited by KevinK7; 05-18-2018 at 02:26 PM. Re: SPID Picture thread?
Here is a typical cutaway and service procedure for the oil bath cleaner. The factory chassis service manual is a great thing to have and learn from. Buy one or at least download a pdf until you find a paper copy.

Re: SPID Picture thread?
Just came across this SPID picture thread at lunch today, so here's my 68 C10's.
Anyone have a picture of the Code; 603 "Green Cloth Trim". Want to know what's available for a replacement seat cover in case mine is trashed.

Thanks! Very original.... Seat cover condition unknown... Now I know what the seat is supposed to look like. Currently waiting for the garage to finish getting her running again, 15 years of garage time... Here is the current issue, red velour cover on the seat, and been pouring rain for much of this week, so haven't even looked under the seat for the build sheet, or gotten a peek under the red velour... Red velour in a green truck? Maybe the PO was looking to turn it into a bordello?

Re: SPID Picture thread?
Today I went to look at a 70 GMC C10 SWB, converted to 5 lug (his description, not mine) . Here is what I found.

I was thinking he may have been severely color-blind!

Re: SPID Picture thread?
No, it was per his description with this SPID and VIN.
I should have taken a pic of the truck. Somebody decifer the VIN for me. What does the S before the Z denote? Why does the SPID have 000 in the wheelbase block?

Make a shortcut and keep it handy. Its always better to look up what a truck "should have" before you go looking than after the fact. The 000 w/b is very common. In case you are worried, that is a factory Shortbed Wideside VIN/SPID per the model number. Five lug, Sounds like a typo or a GM 4x2 rear and Ford 4x4 front axle or outers on a GM front axle. Why bother??? In any event it would be a real good idea to verify the frame VIN too.

[QUOTE=SS Tim;8264177]Just as a reminder go to Bruceman69's decoder, here on the forum. Link is in my signature.

I can assure you the frame VIN doesn't match the cab. The VIN for GMC was what threw me. I wasn't familiar with the Z being model year. I looked at the decoder on my phone while I was there, but I missed the GMC info. The kid told me he had a 70 GMC CST, so I was pretty sure It was a Frankenstien before I went. The curious part about this whole deal was why would somebody transplant a 4X4 body to a 2 wheel drive frame. Like I said pics would have made this a lot clearer. I have no interest in the truck at all.

Thanks, I've always liked the Houndstooth seat trim (had a 69 Camaro). And I know LMC makes it in green... Just received Classic Industries catalog - that thing is a book! Gotta turn some pages and see what seat covers they offer.... I am missing some piece of interior trim > Dash Knob that goes in the upper right corner of the dash. What goes there? Thanks again for the help and guidance, so much to learn... Mike
