Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build
I've had the exact same issue with my new horn switch.
Took me some time to figure out it was that tab

Question on your column. Is it an aftermarket or reman unit? It looks like it is an issue with the shaft. Too long. Check out this thread:. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=787782 .

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build
I did a lot of research on the fancy hood hinges, including talking to others at shows. I felt like $800 was just too high for hinges if they didn't really add something besides looks. I had one guy tell me that he wish he had purchased the CVF hinges instead of the Ringbrothers. I had never even heard of them until this point. After reading about them I felt much more comfortable taking a chance on a $575 hinge that I did and $800 one.
My first impression was that they looked well built and heavy enough to handle the metal hood. We got them bolted in this weekend and I was afraid they would take hours to get right due to all the adjustability that they have built in. I was wrong. They bolted right up and adjusters actually do adjust the hood with little input. Very happy with how the hood operates now. Goes full up and they also look nice. No raised hood in the back!! Hope this helps others on the fence about hinges.

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build
those do look great Shannon. They sure open up the engine bay. The stock ones are pretty bulky. Your truck is coming along nicely! Keep up the fine work.

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build
Got her all loaded up for her first trailer ride. We are headed to upholstery for carpet etc. As I was loading it I managed to get the horn to honk by getting the steering wheel in just the right spot...so, that issue isn't fully worked out yet...smh.
We went by a gas station for her first fill up too.

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build
Trailer looks great but the build looks better. Strong work on what you have done so far. The finish line is insight.
Inspired that it can be done. I am looking forward to be at that part of my build someday too.

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build
The carpet turned out really nice. They ended up putting some additional material up under the dash as the ACC carpet didn't go up high enough to cover all of the Dynomat. Of course, it cost more money to do so...
Waiting on them to finish up the speaker cabinet and kick panels and the interior will be finished....except the horn!

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build
Something about a red interior in a Chevy pickup that just works so well. I have some of my firewall showing because of the ACC carpet too...

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build
Have the speaker enclosures back from upholstery. Started installing them last night. Almost hate to cover it up with the seat.

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build
Beautiful. Just beautiful. You're going to have to get those clear sheets that dealers use to put on the floor mats and also wear booties.

No shoe policy LOL.
Those kicks man. Turned out awesome. And to think back, you almost put those tweeters in the dash. Everything looks fantastic.

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build
The truck turned out great!! You took great care every step of the way. You located your ECM in the same place that I did, under the passenger seat. The only difference is that I came in through the side of the hump with my wiring. Is that bracket sitting near the ECM for bolting down the Snowden seats? I'm seriously considering those seats for my next build (71 C10 build). Again congrats on an awesome job!

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build
Alignment Day! Also having them bleed the brakes one more time and do the state inspection. Tune is scheduled for April 2nd and then back to the paint shop for a couple touch up issues.
