Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Well, after staring at cut up dash, where the original radio went, i decided to replace the dash. Randy (Teeitup) sold me a nice one and my guys at the shop installed it and matched the anniversary gold paint. Caroline is closer to perfection because of it. what do you guys think???

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Here are a few things I accomplished lately, new HID housings and headlights, plus a new Dana 60 front cover for my Currie diff. Can preload the caps with it too.
Added full synthetic gear oil now too for the cold winter -30C and colder days that are coming.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Thanks guys. Yeah, the boys charged me 600 for all the work and I think it was a good deal. Windshield has to come out welded and bolted on, after getting prepped, primed and painted. It allowed me to get the old am/fm radio on there.
As far as the tach is concerned, the truck came factory with a speed minder and I added the tach to it. I need to ad a vacuum/80lb gauge and should be complete then. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I sprayed this
Onto the driver's side of these in preparation for applying undercoat then installing the new bushings. THEN, I managed to break an extractor off into a bolt I was trying to back out! Usually I win the battle with my truck but today, the truck and I tied. A friend is a welder and will be up in November to help me out. I figure I'll just have him tack on a nut so I can get this bolt out. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Got the cab on my 72 GMC ready to come off and measured up the bottom of the cab to make a home made support to use on it my 71 Chevy c10 and the 64 c20. Metal or wood? Leaning toward metal. Tore out seat and carpet and was happy to see that I could not see through the floor anywhere and that it just needs rockers, a cab corner, and some light kick panel patching!

Cleaned it up from sitting 2 weeks and went to a cruise inn Saturday night. Needs to be cleaned a little more for a car show this weekend.

Re : New Dash
I thin it looks great and was a steal @ $600 .
I also think someone should help me find one of those original AM/FM radios to replace my AM only one ~ I have the knobs & brackets and will take a crappy one (HINT !) . Early Mono version will be fine , thankyouinadanvce.... You alls trucks are amazing ! keep those terrific pix and DIY's coming .

Took off the rear diff since the wheels were locked up to find no fluid and a bunch of gear metal pieces... Not Cool

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I sprayed NAPA Undercoating onto the frame brackets for the bushings, cleaned out the driver's side weatherstrip lip, sprayed NAPA Rust Treatment into there and onto the driver's side floorboard, AND had this installed:
The old door was CRAP: 6 single pane windows to the old door, thin as heck wood, and a skeleton key! I'm still surprised why the garage wasn't broken into. It took the company men 8 hours to get this thing in but they did a great job. I can now sleep much more soundly knowing a deadbolt is helping protect my truck. |
