Flowmaster 40's sound great. That's what I'll be putting on my truck when I run my exhaust.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Cleaned out the cab of the old flooring and started to lay some Rattletrap FatMat. Had to stop since it was so hot. The backing was starting to melt before I could get it all in place.

This link was intended for GMC's but the wiring color coding is same as chevy, read thru the hints to the bottom there is a menu to select from. Most of the problems with chevy & GMC trucks are a bad ground, give this a read over it won't hurt you I promise..Vernski http://www.6066gmcguy.org/wire-tips.htm

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Took my truck up to the barn with my wife and our dog. Wanted to see how it was running with the newly rebuilt carb in place.

While at the barn we gave our stallion a turn out and a bath. It is 117 degrees here in AZ today so we wanted to cool him off.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

well went to try and get rear wheels off so i could change tires out as old ones will no longer hold air and need to roll on trailer but to my surprise once takeing off lug nuts wheels would not come off. so i teied hitting them with rubber mallet cause they are origanl ralleys and was gonna repaint and keep for now but found out real quick mallet wasnt doin anything except making me angry... so i sprayed centers down with good ol WD40 and came back later with a small sledge hammer...now im really mad they still wont come off..i dont want to ruin wheels but i dont kn if i have a choice... any ideas

Memories of Yuma! I remember long ago in the Marines it would regularly hit 118 in town and up to 135 in the desert. People died when they wandered out too far unprepared.

Great shot with the horse. My wife is a horse person too. Not afraid of anything including getting dirty or a broken nail here and there.

So how did the carb do?

If they are original rallies they have bolt holes to hold on the cap, if they still on the rim take them off. Get some longer bolts and put them in the cap bolt holes they will make a circle, screw them down and they will push the rim off the drum or hub. Worked for me when my rallies stuck on the hub..Vernski

...great idea, Vernski; and if they still don't wanna push off, while still under force from bolts, 'gentle' taps with a steel hammer on rim's edge should help persuade them(or 'not-so-gentle' taps on axle itself)...

It was 119 on my front porch here in A.J.
Personally, I love the heat

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I finally got around to mounting the fuel tank between the rear frame rails. I like the way it turned out with the bottom of the tank even with the top of the axel tubes. Now all I have to do is finalize the filler location. I want to install it in the stepside fender but am not sure what style. But that is for the next weekend of free time.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Sunday evening 23.00 here in the United Kingdom.

Great weather all weekend, got some stuff done to the truck as well.

Firstly, went out shopping in it yesterday with Nicola who still refuses to drive it, but I live in hope.

She seemed to enjoy herself all day, sitting up like a Meerkat on speed.

Back home I had a few bits of cosmetic work planned, also a few pics to take to show the relocated fuel tank.

Fuel filler sensibly placed inside, but on the side of the bed, with cap halfway up the side.

No idea what this tank came from, but it fits just right.
Also note the rear lowering blocks.

Next job was to clean up and repaint the rear bumper.

I also removed the American trailer plug unit, to be replaced with a European one.

And while I was out back and under I thought it sensible to try use a jack to push the rear bumper back into shape.

Dully masked up all the bumper after removing the rear number plate.

Result.

While waiting for the pant to dry, I played with my extendable flagpole, as we have an American car show locally on the 4th July.

The next job I started at about 11.30 today, after bootfair etc.

Nicola had suggested that I go and T-Cut (mildly abbrassive polish to remove oxidized paint) the truck after washing it yesterday.

Started with paint on the flat surfaces that looked like this......

Did a whole load of this.....twice.

Ended up with this.

I then went back to the house for a cuppa tea, a sandwich and to research the engine bays in these trucks.

It seems most are black.

My truck has so muuch over spray, it needed to be sorted sooner than later.

So out came all my old painting sheets....masking tape and soon the front end looked like this, after a lot of cleaning surfaces etc.

This is the extent of the overspray, which is something I hate. Just shows shoddy preparation.

Ended here....

Done !!

Result??

After this we went up to the farm to take a few photos.

I will post them up if anyone is interested.

Carb is sorted. I am very pleased with the improvement. Thanks for asking. I am currently debating whether to put a TK0500 with a front shift kit behind the 283 or just wait until I swap the motor sometime in the next year or two and do it all at once. The SM420 just isn't going to cut it here in North Scottsdale long-term. I spend all my time running at 50mph (posted speed) and I feel that the motor is working too hard.

Regarding horses and my wife, she is a dental hygienist by trade so she has no squeamishness about anything and she isn't afraid to get dirty. We spend a lot of time at the barn or out in the back country. I am a lucky guy.
