That was at Houston Autorama, the display was really nice. Everything fit perfect on the whole display...guess I am weird like that but I like to check out the displays too. O_o

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread (CLOUD 9)

maibe you could build it at an angle so one of the frontwheels is about on the ground , it would make it eazier to have people look intoo the enginebay and see the tubs or see the the floor in the back make sure you can open the door without the corner of it hitting the ground
raising it off the floor might make the bodydrop and airride less dramatic to look at unless you want to show that off as whell with mirrors ...... raising it at an angle makes it eazier to see too but from the opposite (maximum lifted) side

Thumbs up Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread (CLOUD 9)

X2 on the display of the 1st gen '55 with the double pipes. The angled display board was cool as well rather than the common easel stand. It could even have some neon, or LEDs incorporated into it. The lights beneath the truck were neat as well, but I would have tried to run flat cabling for power and ran it beneath the carpet.

Display stands! Did you ever think it would come down to this Mike?

Sorry, no FB. I'll see if I can get my family to vote.

If you put it on blocks like the trucks above, rotate the tires all the same. It's an OCD thing that I have

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread (CLOUD 9)

I know most of these cars posted from touring the World of Wheels shows. The orange chevy pictured with the stainless steel railing invested about $10K in his display. The exact tire tread pattern of his rear tires was sculptured into the carpet.

Here is my display I toured with last year with my 41 Willys. The base is plywood framed with carpet wrapped around it. I put velcro under these to secure them to carpet. Kids are bad at these shows and you need to make sure you keep your posts secured. The square stands are 3 x 3 aluminum and we drilled holes in them for the duel 1 inch chrome tubes. The chrome tubes are heavy duty chrome closet rods. The only thing I will change is drilling a hole in the front of each of the posts and mount a LED spot light. Lighting is really important. With your detailed frame the truck needs to be up in the air a little. I made blocks and covered them with carpet. If you look closely they are at different heights. You dont want the truck sitting on level blocks......mine angled from the right front up to the rear left of car. If they can't see it your undercarriage they cant judge it. I probably spent $3000 on my display.

Oh, you will also need to build a rolling box to get your display on and off your trailer and to hold your detail supplies. Its part of the game.

Oh, sorry about the girl in the picture, I made an exception when it came to people sitting on my car.

Let me just say that thing was AWESOME in person too! All I can say is "WOW!!!" Pictures really don't do it justice. That is a piece of automotive art!

But you must invest in a trickle charger, Mike! hahaha.
