What did you do to your truck today?

Hey grizz, I know you are a 'detail'-person, so I'm gonna give you a tip many others on here may not have figured out yet. Notice how your wiper blade--even when lowerd to max--does not lie parallel to bottom of the windshield(windscreen)? Do some Googling & find an arm having an adjustable-angle-stem on its end.
Every after-mkt. arm I've ordered came in such that it makes blades lie at an angle to bottom of w'shield; and I know you are not having any of that!
Below is a picture of such an adjustable-stem arm; Tri-Co may be a source, but I'm not sure where I found mine; but trust me, they are out there! And they will allow even you and me to be happy.
BTW: Your efforts so far are doing wonders for your new ride!

Installed a wiper setup from a 72 C10, gave me a two speed motor and a squirter that works.

I'll figure the knob out later.

Used the original washer bottle and mounted next to radiator.

Also made a battery hold down bracket.

Wrapped with rubber on bottom.

Came out great and serves its purpose.

Today I finished up two weeks of not driving Cecilia. I have been tore up about that.

I finally got my radiator repair finished and some paint slapped down on my mount and bolts. I also gave my ancient (but newly rebuilt) alternator a polishing and painted the mounting arm. Then I drove her just because I could.

One of the things I noted when I bought the truck was that whoever did some of the mods in the past, had a very heavy hand.
Some Auto Meter gauges have been fitted, two into the original instrument pod, possibly cutting the holes with C4 plastique explosive or a hammer and chisel. The bottom has also been covered with a piece of ally that seems to be glued on there with super glue.





Loads of cracks in the plastic everywhere you look. Another replacement later type job.

Hey Grizz, I have an extra set of gauges with the plastic, if you want it just pay the shipping and its yours.

That's a nice color. Gold? Will the truck be a 2 tone or all that color?

It's going to be 2 toned.


Hopefully we will finish the rest this week. It's over 100+ degs here so it depends how motivated we are. This heat is no fun to work in especially after working my normal job all day...

Also yes it is gold, the metal halide lights make it look a little greenish.

Such a simple thing, yet has a great result.

Currently only one wiper fitted as the other does not clip on properly, suspect the splines have died over time.

Another job for the future (read next couple of weeks)

I am also planning on Rain-X for the windows front and side, as I had good results before on my van.

Screw that! I hate the heat, ya it's gold/metallic brown. The gold almost looks like the stock gold color on these but with a lot more metallic.

I finished up a brake mod that I have been pondering for a long time. The factory-equipped manual brake trucks have a very high pedal ratio which doesn't suit when you've converted to disc brakes. I decided to convert the pedal ratio from 6.8-1 (stock ratio) to 4.1-1, which is in-line with what a power brake pedal ratio should be. I also did a bunch of other things, but instead of going through a long, detailed explanation, you have to check out the last page of my build thread. There's lots of pictures that explain it all.

I'm very happy with the way it turned out.

I responded in your build thread, and will repeat my comments here. The brake pedal modification is a very impressive piece of re-engineering. I'd suggest posting this in the FAQ section as a separate article so others may find it easier. Beautiful work. I like how you spot welded the reinforcement plate to look original. Not having welding skills I would have just bolted it in place, which wouldn't have looked as good.

Thanks for the detailed photos and technical explanations. I appreciate the effort that goes into sharing this type of upgrade.

Could I suggest adding a layer of heavy plate across both sides and top of the frame full height/width around your modification if you do not have room to add channel because the half pipe just does not have the structural capabilities that the original frame had. I would make the plate about 12 inches long.

I have been racking my brain on setting up my electronic fuel pump because I am running an 89 454 that had a tbi on it. Well after some time I was always noticing a block off plate to where the fuel pump would be and finally I asked myself I wonder if the cam has a lobe on it to run a machanical fuel pump, so today I went to pick n pull and got a fuel pump rod and it inserted all the way, I had my son crank of over and to my relief it moved up and down, so now I am going to be running a machanical pump instead. My life just got a little simpler.

If you are using the TBI the stock pump does not produce enough pressure. My TBI 350 has a pressure range from 14-18 psi, I had lots of problems with my in line fuel pumps (burned 5 up) then I just put the stock pump in the tank and all the issues went away. (We used a 21 gallon rear mount blazer tank) only cost $100.00 for a new bosch fuel pump and we have never had a moments trouble.) Kieth
