Started making the connections for the instruments. The ground was rigged as daisy chain method. I'm a bit old school and believe in crimping, soldering and heat shrink.

That's the only way to do it as far as I'm concerned.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Found a puddle under my new radiator after filling and bringing up to temp for the first time. I am really tired of being quality control for companies. I quess it's cheaper to replace defective radiators than it is to pressure test them before they leave. I could have spent $600 instead of $200 and got a good one.

" I could have spent $600 instead of $200 and got a good one."

On the other side of things, i spend money on the good stuff and it doesn't work, then i buy the cheap one when i return things and that works fine. YMMV i guess.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Replaced all the side window weather strip stuff in the '65'. Door edge fuzzies(belt line strips), glass run strip and division bar strip. The wing windows looked fine.
Cleaned and lubed all the door and window mechanisms while I was in there.
Not much fun and I ruined 2 belt line strips in the process but I had extras.
I need to find someone who makes the rubber bumper that the bottom of the window run rests on in the down position. One of those was missing.
Everything works and looks great now, so all in all a satisfying adventure.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Finished painting the rest of my truck last night.
It's dark brown not orange. The lighting made the tailgate look orange.

Now I get to figure out how everything goes back together... Lol! It's only been a year and half.

Had the same issue with a brand new NAPA radiator in my buddies 68, didn't get up to temp before a stream was coming out of the middle of the core.

Beautiful paint!!! My Dad had a '54 Ford F100 in that color, and I had a '84 Z28 in that color. Oh yeah, my Mom also painted her '78 Renault Le Car in that color too. Looks like my family loves Root Beer Brown Metallic. lol

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Installed new Rancho RS9000's front shocks and had new but rough looking Pro-comp rears that I repainted red and added Edelbrock stickers, hoping to tame the 1 ton ride a bit in the front with the adjustable Rancho's.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Spent time after work with my wife, had dinner after which she went to have a bath and I went to the garage..... good compromise ?

Sprayed another coat of clear on the trunk.

Then my buddy Jon, who I ride trials with came around to show off a new mountain bike he is looking at £4k WTF ???

Anyway, he also brought some AutoGlym Bumper polish for me to try on the black vinyl tonneau cover on the truck. After washing it, it looked fine, but this stuff really made a huge difference, lifting dirt and revitalizing the colour.
After applying, I buffed it all back.
By the weekend I will give it another coat and buff back again, should do the trick.

I am impressed.

Also started to remove the non matching bolts from the towbar where it is mounted under the chassis, will be replacing them all with 30mm M12 nuts and bolts.
How do you remove domed bolts that just turn around when you tru move the nuts? Vice grips ?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

well after jacking with my throttle linkage some more I finally came to the conclusion that im not gonna be happy till I buy a new one ....
so after that I did a partial bench bleed on my master cylinder ...found out there is a lot of air trapped in the system, also figured out my brake linkage needs adjustment ...is too short....which ill be addressing this week ....
picked up a new rear main seal and oil pan gasket so I can try to get that done this week as well....
hell might even finally drop a tach in it , ...since ive been meaning to do it since I got it

that's about it for right now ...
