I like it; simple. Makes you wonder why the factory felt in necessary to run that big ol' conglomeration...

Insane! One of the best step by steps I have ever thumbed.. errr Clicked through. I'll have to keep my eye open and see it on the road sometime.

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Well, I took a chance on a local shop hoping the bends wouldn't be too bad They're not usable IMO (mandrel is the only way to go). So there's $60 gone and a lesson learned.
I contacted Flowmaster directly today. They said they would have to make them for me at the end of a 3" run, but got back to me with a quote of $24.44 each. I said I'll take em This, and some other distractions including the 64, has derailed my progress on Tubby for a couple weeks. So with this new wind in my sails I'm headed out to work on the passenger side now I should have both sides hung to the mufflers by the time I get these. Incredible build FF... You are certainly a master of fabrication. I just wish that I could make a decent looking weld! Keep up the great work and I look forward to following along.

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Time for some more pics.
The exhaust is all mocked up. I just need to pull it out and finish some of the welds, then hit it with some anti-corrosion coating and reinstall. The rear-most hangers also need to be installed, but it's 95% done. I got ambitious during the install and decided to run it all the way to the back. Good thing I have an over-sized notch (I knew I kept it full size for a reason ) I achieved my goal which was to keep it all above the main frame rails. The exception is in the very rear where it's still tucked up nicely and is above the lower portion of the fuel tank and higher than the lower body line. The only thing visible from the side is the tips of the turndowns I did open a big 'ol can of worms with this. Quite a few changes were/are required to make this work, but it'll be worth it. Fuel and brake line relocation, airlines need to be relocated (was going to switch to hard line anyway), Stock panhard bar mount on the pumpkin had to be removed/ground, and the biggest one being the rear shocks require a reconfig yet again. That's OK because I have another reason to do that as well that I'll show later. ...on to the pics! First the money shots, then the details: |

Cleaned up the pumpkin a little: Shocks will mount under the bridge instead of behind it: |

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
...and the other reason I want to relocate the rear shocks; I'll be running two rows of Buddy Buckets.
The second row will be just the two buckets and no center seat. That's the arrangement that fits perfectly between the rear tubs. Like this: ...and the reason to move the shocks (left one is up on seat tracks): |

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
As tight as that's in there, I think you'll have to pull the body off and disassemble the frame to get the exhaust out of there to paint ...... .
