Re: 55 2nd serie GMC

Well today was the last ride of the season, what a good and fun season of driving my 55 GMC, almost 6000 miles trouble free. Can't wait for next year for more driving. I'm planning a road trip to Bowling Green KY next Aug for the trifive nationals, anyone here with TF planning on going?

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC

Thanks for posting more pictures of your truck - it is absolutely beautiful.

I have three questions if you don't mind: after driving your truck this year, have you had any issues with the visor. I love the look, and want to do this to my truck, but I wondered if there are any issues at speed (80MPH?).

Could you tell me what your High Mount Brake Light came out of (pictured in post 32). It looks great, and it is another idea I would like to copy.

Finally, your front flip hood looks so cool, but others have said they tend to not fit as well and scratch the paint. What has been your experience?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Ricky, no issues with the visor so far. My average speed on the innerstate is about 70 mph and it hasnt move yet. Had the truck above 80 mph a few time but not for long period of time , just when passing . its so cool looking at peoples expression on their face when a 60 years old truck pass them like they were standing still.
The brake light is off a 2002 Silverado truck.
No issues with scratching the paint with the hood flip kit . The more you fine tune the fiting of the hood at the muck up stage the easier ill be to install after the truck is all painted. I had to modifie the kit slitly due to the fact my truck is a gmc and the kit is made for chevy trucks.
Hope this helps, BTW i like your project, single headlight cab with fleetside box is cool.
.
