Re: And so it begins................

I pulled the valve covers today to clean them up and get them painted. I also painted the alternator brackets and replaced the broke bolt. I find that the more I do, the worse the rest of the truck looks to me. I just can't park it long enough to do it all.

It looks like the #1 exhaust rocker isn't getting much oil but there's no slack or visible wear so I guess it's getting some at least.

Re: And so it begins................

Yeah, it's 38 years old. However, I did pull the valve covers and intake off the '73 Satellite I gave to Blake and it looked really clean for a 37 year old engine. I had it for 12 years myself and I kept it well maintained and regular fluid changes. This shows you the difference.

Re: And so it begins................

Thanks Johnathan Nothing fantastic though. Just trying to make it look different for this year's truck meet.

Last year it didn't matter. I was still special because I had the only big block, the only air conditioner, and the most patina!

This year........ different story.

I will be waiting for those side markers though.

Right on! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone elses too. Mine is sitting out in the rain storm right now with a bunch of bare metal on the bed sides. How humid can it be outside without screwing up my primer? I plan on going out there and shooting it as soon as it dries enough for me to surface sand it again.

Take a blow dryer to it. get it really dry then shoot it. it's always fun to work on the truck, heck even I worked on mine a little.

I wish. They are 295/50/15 on 15x10 cragars. I wish I could find a 315/60/15

well if that's all your truck says that's pretty good. Mine gives me the finger because it's all apart and the frame is naked now.
