Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Not for my truck but I got this made to hang on my garage wall. I might paint it like my 67 will be painted.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Those buddies with the high dollar fun tools sure come in handy! I will show this picture to my friend with a 12' Plasma Cam table and give him a nudge... hinting how cool it would be if he would make a 72' Chevy for me!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I have had my precision seals on this cab for over 2 years and I still had to slam the doors. So I bought these door seals from Honda and wow. Closes like a new door. And my locks now work smoothly. They also have no cut and fit perfectly. I would recommend them over the precision press ons.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I keep hearing the same situation from several builds here. I guess I should just not even waste my time trying the Precision seals and go straight to the Hondas.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Take a picture of the inside lip on those seals, show folks what they look like. I went with precision now as well because of the way it looks not covering that inside lip and has a "bulge" to it with an extra inside strip that fit the civics trim. At least that was my experience with the civic seals I tested.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I also tried the Civic seals. They do fit great and the doors closed really easy, but I opted for the Precision press on seal for the same reason TA mentioned.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
The last truck I had the metal around the top driver hinge was actually cracking around the hinge so I'd rather have the doors close nice. I'll get over the lip.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Picture of the inner lip that was mentioned. I wonder if it's possible to trim it off and still have it look good or glue it down to itself so it looks smooth?

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I bought new 66 Chevelle door latches and just modified the top end so my door handle pin will hit it. Now the door will stay locked if you close the door with the button on. That's why I needed softer door seals. This operation was impossible with the precision pieces. I always hated the original door latch system. Wish they changed to this system in 67 for the new body style.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
These are the 2 I purchased. I am super happy with them. Another reason I went this route is that power locks are useless if you can't close the doors and the locks pop up everytime.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I often wondered about that with power locks. Sounds like a nice upgrade idea. Will you be cutting out your original latch location on the cab and making it flush?

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Every 67 72 I've ever had when you lock the door and close it the lock would pop up leaving me to lock it with a key and I'd have to wait for the passenger to close their door to activate the power lock switch or I'd have to walk around and use a key. The 67 chevelle ones do the same but if you hold the button in and close it the lock will hold down keeping it locked.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Foot in mouth man. I just went and tested this and sure enough mine do same thing. I'm still finishing my first truck and guess I have never tested this sequence before. Now I'm REALLY glad I put power locks in, that would be annoying to have to use the key to lock every time... Was this designed specifically to keep you from locking your keys in truck? If so, that's kinda cool really.
Thanks for the lesson chewy.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
How do your stock handles actuate those? They look like they are a lot lower than stock.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Here's a picture of the inside. I put a rubber cap on the end so I can make my lighted lock system work. You need to push it in 1/8 inch to ground the relay.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
67 never had these pressure vents so I think I'll add one to each side where the old catches were.
