Yes, I would move those brake lines as far away as you can. It might not hurt to put some kind of heat shield on them too. It will heat the brake fluid up and expand it. If the fluid returns to the master cylinder that might not hurt anything but it locked the brakes up on my '36 Ford when it happened on it.

i was able to get them without touching but they are still about 1/4" away. im thinking if i wrap them with some heat deflective wrap it would help?

hand bent them a little more and its looking better. once i get my column back in i can dial it in and wrap the lines there.

im trying to get my stock ps lines to work with the ls steering pump. i think i can make them work if i shorten up the return hose line. but on the pressure line i do kind of have to worm it under the pump like the picture but i think it will be fine. i just need to either get a fitting adapter for the ps pump or see if i can get an original fitting from our style pump and swap them out. yall think these stock ones should work?

You should be able to get the right fitting from NAPN and get them to install it on your hose. Even the NAPA in my little town can do it.

the problem is there is almost no room to shorten this thing with the bend on the pump side fitting. im guessing they would have to cut the hose and crimp a new tube on it with the right bend and right fitting. can they do that? i have a napa about 15 min up the road from me

I pulled the fitting and oddly it seems to thread in. however, when it fully tightens the tube can still wiggle in and out some, like the it isn't sealed. the gear box side works perfect, both fittings snug down and don't move.

well i pulled the fitting from the ps pump and this line does thread in, but it does not seat the line. it threads about half way and gets snug, but the line still wiggles in and out. on the gear box side both lines snug perfect and lines dont move at all. last pic shows how far in the fitting goes before i cnt tighten it anymore. hmm...

ordered a fitting from amazon after striking out at the junkyard today. hope it works.

got my knock sensors and galley cover on followed by the intake. starting to look more like a motor. tons of room between the motor and firewall, love it. on this booster fitting, can it swapped from one from the donor truck? the ls hose is too big for the smaller booster fitting.

i did find a replacement booster check valve through amazon, but i went an easier way and just cut the ls hose and put a 1/2" to 3/8" hose reducer and ran 3/8" hose to the stock booster fitting. think it will work fine.

Like you I have an early flare fitting steering box and a late model o-ring pump. The PO used an adapter fitting like the one shown in the thread LockDoc posted. I am fixing to tear it all apart and replace the pump and steering box this week. Let me know if you need some pictures or other help.

ha that's a cool little fitting...didn't know they existed. I found an ls swap one that's supposed to replace the stock o ring style with the flare style. we will see if it works.

seems to work like a charm. heater bypass hose also came in. i think im about to order my radiator as well. i did order my fender bolt kit and core support bushing/mounts. plan is to get the front somewhat assembled with the fenders so i can let the truck off the jackstands and start setting it at ride height and see what i need to do about my rear bag mounts.

nothing exciting really, ordered my big block radiator made by spectra...pn cu730 i believe. it was obviously too tall but i made it work. cut the stock top mounts and raised them up, and also sectioned them to fit snug on the radiator. had to trim the lower rad. mounting cups too...but i think it fits nicely. use the stock donor tahoe rad hoses. had to cut both of them down but i think they should work out. for the top mount i used a 1.5" elbow hose to a 1.5"x1.25" reducer fitting..with a steam line port.

working on trying to get the small block shroud to fit this thing. i think i almost got it so well see how that ends up. ordering up my trans lines fittings now and will be doing braided line.

ya i know, i bounce all over the place

got the hoses all clamped up. really wish i had better looking clamps but oh well. got the intake "mounted" too but that will need some attention later when i get the fenders and fender wells on. its just hanging there since i didnt mount the box that holds it. ill look at some of you guys trucks and see if i might go in a different direction.

fan shroud is just sitting there for now, will need to find a way to attatch it

Looks like that should all work. I'm wondering how much hood clearance you will have with the radiator. I hope no problems there.....

ya i really hope not lol. well, we know some of the c20s came with a big block from the factory, i just dont know what core support they used. hopefully within the next month or so i can get the inner fenders painted and install the fenders with the hood and see how it fits. cross that bridge when i get there i guess

As far as I know all of the core supports were the same height no matter what year or what engine they had.

A big block radiator is a little wider and thicker but No taller than small block or six cylinder radiator. It looks like you may have a square body radiator, I have used that size before with 69-72 style hood without clearance problems. but it wont clear 67-68 hoods. The top picture shows my spacers I used to make mine fit standing upright but the '67 hood would not close . In the second picture you can see I had plenty of room to tip the radiator back and mount at an angle allowing to shut the hood. I hope that helps.

uh oh then I'm going to have problems with my 67 hood. I can't lean it back at all. this radiator is a squarebody one. do you know where it was hitting?

It hits on the support that goes across the front inner hood. I'll see if I can find a picture.

This is the piece I'm talking about. It actually hits the hood behind the cross support because the hood is lower at that point.
