Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

I dont get to work on it on the weekends, and i dont get to go work on it again until tomorrow night (when its at someone's shop you have to ask every night if i can come work on it after work , i dont get off work until 6 so every time he lets me come out and use his shop it is greatly appreciated ) , think i am going to work on my front inner fenders some more.... I keep getting burnt out on them, stop take a break and start again!!!

the truck looks amazing, keep up the good work, it is inspiring. You have done alot of stuff that looks good, I might have to steal some ideas. For sanding the cab, did you use a orbital sander or what did you use?

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

i went over the paint first with an 8 inch orbital sander with 40 grit paper to bust through all of the paint, then with a 6 inch DA with 80 grit, in all of the tight spots around window , in door jambs, i used a little 3 inch angle grinder with these little pads on them i dont know what they are, they look like the red scuff pads but they are 3 inches around and 1/2 inch thick ( the material reminds me of a much stiffer red scuffing pad ) anyway they work killer for taking off paint and not grinding into the metal in all of the tight spots !!

It all looks nice, Mike! Definitely don't pay any attention to my door gaps when you get to see it. Yours are probably way better than stock! Heck, they may rival modern new vehicles. Keep it up!!!

Those gaps look good! Way better than factory new vehicles. After body work hell they'll look great. You plan on driving it a lot or just a weekend cruiser?

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

well here is last nights progress, Gary the body guy at Nex Hotrods finished my gaps on my doors yesterday, the drivers door had (for the last 30 yrs) touched in the corner above the vent glass , he cut that corner into and took a little out of it , then on the passenger door did almost the whole front leading edge , and the two little curved in spots by the door handle , he did a killer job...... Next back to the inner fenders once again, he had tacked in some metal , split some seams and brought parts in and out, and when i got there he had me start welding up what he had pieced together finally my vision of bolt in inner fenders is coming to reality !!
