Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Alright swapping to vortec based motor with vertical bolts for the intake what bracket do I need for throttle and kickdown? Staying carbuerated up top with my th350 trans. Part number? Brand? Lokar?

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Well everyone been awhile since I've updated just kind of been hitting some local Graffiti shows around modesto for the big parade and West Campus weekend event along with back to the Fruit Yard for a smaller show.
Got my second round of my steering wheel all mounted up looks killer and I've just been enjoying it until I sand it one last time for a final coat and a blast of clear. Also got a minor victory that's been bugging me for a long time and that's getting the Cargo light working and it looks beautiful bouncing bright white light off the wood in the bed couldn't be happier other then i have the harness's backwards to where it only lights up with the interior lights but that's an easy fix once i feel froggy enough to pull the carpet back. Had a blast with the greatest woman any Trucker could ask for as she helped clean up Newtype for this past Saturday's show. We both had a great time there, no trophy but still all smiles. I've got a couple orders being placed this week and well guess this is a 20 year old wait on this part finally being used so it should be well worth the wait.

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
I've as well (sad to say) come to terms that I will be missing this year's Brother's show as the owner of the motor I'm buying has been a complete flake and been pushing me off even though we've had a set price for two solid weeks. Hopefully I can pay him this weekend and get him away from holding me up in further but I simply won't have the time to put this new motor in with all that I'm doing and have the time to break her in before the long haul. In the end this is best as it will not rush me and I will be able to install this motor with it's goodies the correct way and not be half-assed just to make a show. Still hurts to miss a deadline but it'll be worth it the moment that motor roars to life and sets me on my way to more shows this fall. Hoping to have a solid 10,000 miles on it before next summer if all goes as well as it should but we shall see about that

I so would but i think if I miss all of it then the fire is stronger to experience everything in one shot next year as I would have this year.

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
I used to go every year with same group but one of em passed away and it wasn't the same.So everyone lost their motivation. I went last year by myself and it was smaller than the year before. i might head up this year as well.

I always ride to street vibs. I've had snow on me one year and rain another..... both of those years I wished I had a heater..

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
I have the same problem, must be a Harley trait. One year we took the scenic route to Laughlin. we thought Death Valley wouldn't be real hot in the morning, besides it's April. Wrong it was a hot year, we thought we were going to die. Couldn't touch the throttle without the motor pinging and of course the a/c was on the blink as usual..

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Sounds like a real "heat" blast I definitely pass on a trip through Death Valley. Central Valley traffic heat is bad enough

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Problem number 1
My old block has the large diameter temp guage plug sensor and the vortec motor has the small diameter style. GM calls to drill and tap the new vortec by I don't wanna run to that so I believe we are just goin to plug the sensor into the top of the intake in the vertical hole pictured. Opinions?? Also what this plug on the passenger side? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Trying Dale but I gotta wait for a heat sensor plug on the diagonal hole pictured above. Then I can start here but more than likely next weekend :/

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Posted via Mobile Device Hey Dylan, make sure that angled hole is a pipe thread it looks to have a shoulder in there. The other thing is an anti knock sensor you can remove it. I don't remember if it's in a water jacket or not if it is just plug it
