These are the original split rims.
I think you call it "rode hard and put up wet"

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!
These tires are likely the second or third set. The truck has about 150K miles.

Nice old Jimmy there .
Definitely put up wet but also clearly not rode hard ~ the Farm trucks we had back when this Jimmy was new , were mangled .

Yeah, I agree. That thing is in really good shape. Would like to see the cleaned up version.

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!
The 8" wheels give a wider stance while the hubcaps hide the wider wheel. Nice look
Crewadmin, that's a great look. What hubcaps are those and how did you customize them? The painted smoothies can look great with caps. There are a few Chevy car cap choices. A good 6-lugger alternative for sure.

Awesome. What size tires do you have? I'm currently working on a 5/7 drop right now on mine!

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!
yep, and still holding air on 30+ year old tires
![]() trouble is a lot of deep pitted rust in the rings, grooves, everywhere.. concerned about the severe metal loss and weakening due to all of the rust.. still have them behind the garage.. might try to clean them up and re-examine eventually.. maybe before I buy the tires for it since the snap rings are 8 lug 15" the one pictured above are 16.5 and came with 1 year old firestone commercial tires.. seller had just replaced tires year before truck engine died and went to salvage.. thankfully he kept his wheels and new tires.. |

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!
I believe the 60's would be right. I think it's more about the width and offset of the rim than the difference in width of those two tire sizes. You have the rim right--I think the 50's would have too much of a 1980's look. But then, I could be wrong!

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!
9.5 up front would be hot rod cool with 12.5 on the back. I would like to see a picture of that one. Is it on here anywere? I tried 10.5 up front with 12.5 rear that have from my old 81 c/10 just for Saturday afternoon entertainment.
