Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

Alright this is too-much fun! I figured out the smallest size my D50 will shoot works good — keen-o.

Anyways I've had this '88 since it was only 5-years old, and I cut it up so bad to lay that it ain't even a truck anymore. Kind of like what I did to my Harley-Davidson. I just installed LMC Truck's all-chrome grille and spoiler with chrome tow hooks. The interior is next.

The suspension is scratch-built trailing arms on the rear, and mutilated stock upper and lower control arms up front.

And oh yeah, its fully-shaved, and all the cab seams are molded, and the stake holes are shaved too.

Oops, that was pretty much the same view. I'll get out there tomorrow morning and shoot some different angles. I can't shoot from the other side, or all the junk in my front yard will be visible, and I'll end up on that Hoarders TV show.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

They are LMC Truck's Euro Style for '88-89. Yeah, I prefer that setup too over composite. I just did a story for CCT on my '79 C10 here's a link. I also used LMC's relay kit on my '88. For some reason all four aren't coming on right now or my parking lights, but here's a look at how good they work on my '88.

I Hope this helps,

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

I had been retired from drag racing for 30 years when I was bitten by the bug again in 2009 and started building a tube chassis Cavalier. Since I needed something to tow with I found this 1994 Chevy. It had been used to tow a bass boat all it's life and was high mileage, a little ragged around the edges but still basically rust free. It had obviously been driven on narrow tree lined trails and every square inch of the sides were lightly scratched. Two days worth of buffing and waxing cleared up a lot of it but it still needs a coat of paint. After that all it took was a little black paint on the lower part to hide the ugly beige/silver below the moulding and a set of 1970's rally wheels(7s and 8s) to change the appearance. I've had countless Chev/GMC trucks over the past 40+ years and this one is the best of the lot.

Here's the page from LMC's catalog with the lights to give you a good look at them:

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

small update on the Dually.....
got my light covers today

going with a late 80s early 90s look for the truck, got a western hauler shrouded headache rack to put on it and 4 more KC's to mount on that. the 2 up front lights will have some vintage 1992 KC Light Covers I got off of the 'bay and the 4 on the rack will get the Hot Pink ones

Slick Tahoes. The Limited is begging for a drop. Nice tint jobs, too. Love the tinted windshields.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

Thanks guys.

If my wife didn't drive the Limited, it would have already been dropped

I've been searching forever for a Limited front bumper for my 2 door. They're basically impossible to find though. I've always wanted a 2 door with the Limited bumper and fog lights.

Chevy dealers still sell them new, but even a hook up price (unpainted) they are still 450.00.

My next plans are getting a grill and smooth front bumper painted black, with a black chrome speed mesh insert.

When I found my 2 door on Autotrader, I called the dealership and actually had to ask them twice to verify it was a 2wd.

Sure enough, I drove right down there and it had been sitting there for over 2 weeks. The salesmen said not even 1 person came down to look at it

I just bought a steel Reflexxion cowl induction hood. It's getting painted at the shop right now. Hopefully I'll have it bolted on in the next couple days.

The story of how I screwed up my perfect factory hood is embarrassing.....to say the least

AMEN!!! Let's hear this awesome story! Maybe we should start a thread with wrecks and how you fixed em up... I've got pictures and all to go with mine. I think I'll go start that thread now.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

lol alright, here's what happened....

My intake manifold was leaking. I get home, and pop the hood to check things out. I wanted to see if it lost a lot of coolant.

I shut the hood just enough so it's closed, but not latched. Not even the safety latch.

I figured I'd let it cool for a little while then recheck the coolant level, etc. before I leave again.

I come back out a couple hours later, jump in my truck, start off down the road and next thing I know....the hood pops up. Bent the crap out of it.

It looked terrible.

I couldn't believe I did that. First time I've ever done something like that. I felt like such a dumb ass.

So my wife asks me "you did that on purpose just so you could buy a cowl induction hood huh?"

lol

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

Here is my latest addition. It's a '92 Sierra. I bought it off a buddy of mine that used it for his construction company. It's nothing special, but the price was right and it runs great. I changed the grille, new windshield, tinted the rear window, wheel well trims, dual exhaust and wheels. Just basically cleaned it up real good. Here is before and after pictures.

It's a huge improvement, but with that wheel and tire combo, it's begging for a drop.

Just because it's dropped doesn't take away is usability. Go for it!
