I found some more bolts and was able to install the clutch, break peddle assembly and the parking break, door locks and shifters Saturday. Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

Sunday I worked on the break peddle linkage and got it hooked up the the hydro boost. Installed the steering column and steering shaft had to go the parts store and they had the correct rag joint the one that came with the kit from LMC was way to small. worked on installing the steering wheel still have some work to do but at least I can move the front wheels with out jacking up the front end makes it easier to get in and out of the garage. I did not like the cheesy wood that it came with so I will make my own with a nice piece of walnut I picked up a few months ago.

Not that I know of. I bought one of the little boxes to make a stock setup intermittent. But I can find where I put it.
What’s wrong with your current motor? Remember they are ground activated through the switch making ground by being in contact with the dash.

That one is expensive $229.00. the one I have is what they call a 3 wire and hard to find. 4 wire ones range from $75.00 to $120.00. do you have any experience with the new port wiper motors.

I don't have any experience with the new port wiper motors.
They just look like they will work.
I see you bought one of those new ports.
The other option -------.
There is a member on here twouvakind
that builds delay wiper system
sometimes. His last response was 9/12/18
on his product thread.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...wipers&page=13

I will have to drill for my air system also I picked Old Air.
I would like to see pictures of your installation if you have time to take them and post.
I know about the over time stuff.
I will also buy the new port wiper motor.
Please post details of your installation.

Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

After searching part number on line I was able to install some rubber bumpers for the driver door, tail gate, and windshield washer hose. finish drilling the hole for the Vintage Air and finish up modifying my existing controls for the AC. installed the LED side marker lights but they seam to stick out further than what I remember.

Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

I ordered a gallon of Por-15 from Amazon and it was delivered to my house yesterday when I came home from work i picked it up and could smell paint fumes brought it in the house set down on some plastic and noticed my hand ha paint on them went back to check my entry way and paint leaked there too. rapped the package in plastic and set it in garbage can in the garage. contacted Amazon and asked for refund and then sent the seller a bad review with pictures. now I have a gallon of hazardous paint to deal with. this week end I will try to pore it into another can see if I can save whats left.
My plan was to paint some areas inside the cab that still have bare metal up under the dash, parts of the doors and under side of roof.

Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

I forgot to take pic's. I did get the holes drilled for the hydraulic clutch and installed the tail light last week end. painted the doors with por-15 just the bare metal areas. Ordered some wiring and fuse box. Have to modify the clutch push rod so its adjustable it was about an 1" short.

Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

I got some work done this weekend modified the transmission adapter by moving the hole center 1/2" each way so the bolts align from moving the engine forward 1". w
Went to my friend house Friday and he helped cut down a part so my front and rear T-case sticks fit better. Installed the new wiper motor and it fit good. the Vintage Air was difficult to get bolted up the the firewall ad to remove the rear bracket and the wiring on top to fit it in. Only lost 1 grommet pushing the tubing through the fire wall. Got the driver door rubber installed holds the door out about an inch. and got the door lock linkage inside the door working.

Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

Well it rained most of my time off work and I got sick Friday so no work on the truck during the Holidays. No room in the garage to move around to work in side. I did receive my wiper motor shaft seal from GMC Paul. The smaller one that fits tight to the main shaft. If the rain stops I should be able to finish up work under cowl.

Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

I have not done much after thanksgiving got sick for the 3 days after and the weekends have been raining + working late shift at work kills my truck time until March. I can only work on my truck in the driveway no room in the garage. I did get the grill installed Sunday. I will have to rework the aftermarket grill insert so my fingers will fit to open the hood.

Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

Nice. Who did you get the insert from?

Are you going to be able to store it inside the garage when complete since it’s so long??

Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

Okay I went off the deep end and bought a Magnuson supercharger TVS2300 for my truck. LSX Concepts make kits to fit the supercharger with Vintage Air kit. The other part I had to buy is cylinder head adapter for Cathedral port to square port to make it work on my truck because I put about $1500 worth of work in the cathedral port heads I have. I should have the supercharger and head adapter next week. the pulleys and brackets I will order after I send some pictures of my engine to LSX Concepts to see if I have to change the AC pump brackets or not.
