Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?
What's the best way to clean a patina truck? Will a quick detailer hurt the paint since it has no clear coat on it?

CLR will take alof of thick rust off, and leave the 'patina' but not rusted out look

Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?
I used 1 part CLR to 4 parts warm water and a scotch brite pad to get the worst rust under control. Here is a before:
...and here is after: I then *lightly* buffed the paint with a dual action buffer and polish to get some shine back in to it and clean stains. Now, I just keep a coat of good wax on the truck and try to keep it out of the sun/weather. This is what mine looks like now: That picture makes the paint look better than it is...it still has it's share of stains, rust, scratches, etc... on it.

Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?
Mine doesn't really have any surface rust, it's mainly just faded paint with primer showing. I was asking because my paint usually has a white powdery film on it.

And that's what makes it so cool! Hope you can make it up to VA for a show this year or I can get down there to see it since you've improved it so much.

Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?
Here is my 1970 GMC C2500. I am not sure if I am going to paint it or leave it original. I was thinking that Mickey Mouse flipping the bird would make an interesting logo if anyone remembers those t-shirts from the 70's flipping off the Ayatollah.

Here is my 55 1st series. I plan to swap it onto an 85 S10 LWB chassis (see cab lifter in background). This photo was taken Monday Jan 14th 2011, with temperatures in the mid 70's.

Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?
Do firetrucks count as "logo" trucks? It has patina, too, just didn't have a good photo.
