Re: 58 GMC Project

ohw sh.t thats bad , i hope the diff house and its inners is stil usuable
go the belt and braces route drill the boltheads holding the ringgear and twist a piece of wire through them like they do on airplanes , when you do that the correct way if ever one works loose it tightens the other bolt and cant loosen more

I'm always glad to hear a happy ending to a bad story. BTW, I can't wait to see your pick up in person. PM me if you plan on a trip to the coast.

YIKES! Good to know that you and the truck will see the road again soon. It looks georgous man!

I have been checking in every few days, just not posting much since I haven't touched mine in a long while. Hopefully Sunday I will get the drivetrain bolted in.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Cal,
I just went back and looked at post #1 july 5 05, you have been a very busy and dedicated to complete this great project in 2 years.
Now that you have it on the road how do you like the 330HP engine, is it a GM crate #12486061, what is the gear ratio in the rear end??

Nice vision and a very fine ride!!!!

Thanks solidaxel! The motor is not a factory crate motor, it's a rebuilt motor. The 330Hp is not sreamin fast but it gets me in and out of traffic with no problems. The gear ratio is 3:23. At 70 mph I'm taching 2900 RPM's.

Well Cal,

When you have a truck like that a nomination is a given. It would just be wrong not to.

No paint yet. He has the hood in primer now and is going to start block sanding. It's looking like next week. Yep, that plate is "BAD on my "1958"

You are welcome, and by the look of the voting I am not the only one who likes your truck!

P.S. Nice to see a father and son communicating!

Looks like the TOTM award is yours. You have 2x as many votes as the next guy. Aren't there a few local shows coming up?

Easy son, two more and anything could happen. I think there's one at Dairy Delight in Pinedale.
