The upper right is the base engine manual choke knob location. Trucks optioned with automatic choke engines had a square GM logo cover filling the bezel hole.

A GM logo cover..., I'm going to have to get one of those since the original owner swapped out the manual choke Q-Jet for a Electric choke version. Is that a search for in the parts for sale section, ebay search or LMC/Classic Industries repop part? Thanks!

Re: SPID Picture thread?
I bought this truck from a guys estate. I was bummed that the SPID was missing from the glovebox door. Just received an email from the son of the second owner. They found this in the old guys garage. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1526767396

What is the difference between 3 digit option and 6 digit option SPID's?
Were they changed to 6 digits after specific year? Bill

Re: SPID Picture thread?
The number of digits varied by assembly plant.

The additional characters (when used) provided more info about the RPO code, like clutch type, etc. When those fell into disuse they were often replaced with just dummy characters to fill the spaces, which is obvious when all of the RPO codes have the same leading and ending characters. There was no specific breakpoint for changing over to the pure three digit code, and it varied by plant and model year even through the squarebody era. K

If you're trying to preserve an original truck and/or tag stay factory. On the other hand, if you're changing the truck up to be what you want, why not go for a tag that reflects it. |

Re: SPID Picture thread?
Is anyone remaking SPID tags? My truck is getting ready for paint and someone had painted the inside of the door black so I will mask off but not always confident the masking will work.

Re: SPID Picture thread?
Oh I meant along with a spid pic, the truck could be included to see how far it has or hasn't been changed in the last 50 some years

Re: SPID Picture thread?
I will take a decent picture of the old boy and upload it so that you guys can see it. Then you can see what has been done to it. Someone changed the original color to Matt black and I want to change it back to the original color combination one day.
