should only have to run it for 30 minutes or so to heat the two car garage up... It would be nice to have a wall mounted unit that I could use all the time, but this will work for me... Runs on kerosene or diesel..

Those work really well. Friend uses one in his shop. They are LOUD when running, so it is hard to have conversation. I also tend to get a headache when it runs to long and not vented.

this one is smaller (40,000 BTU vs 150,000 BTU) so it shouldn't be to loud...
picked up an awesome deal on metal shevling for the basement today.. check craisglist for retail stores going out of business.. i'll post pics tomorrow, it would make great garage storage too... I'm a CL junkie!

I'm a CL junkie![/QUOTE] Its no wonder that your a CL junkie with the deals you find. They don't part with half the stuff here in the city for the prices that you score out there!I had to start searching the surrounding areas for better deals.Do you get CL alerts on your cell? I don't know how your house is set up or if there are zoning issues, but what do you think about a wood stove? Its cheap and it keeps things cozy. Those turbine heaters work great,it heats a workshop/garage in a hurry, but it does get cold quick once they're shut down.

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
wood stove would take to long to heat up for me... If I found an old house trailer natural gas furnace I would run that on a low temp all winter.. I only get small amounts of time in the garage anyway....
This thing will run on kerosene, diesel, jet fuel or fuel oil... 10 hours on 3 gallons is cheap heat for me!

The donor body is actually in great shape. I think I'm going to sell off the custom-10 trim I have for it and the complete A/C system. Sometimes I like how the trim looks but most of the time it's not my cup of tea. The A/C setup I'll probably never use cause this truck will be a winter driver anyway. I'm going to try and track down a 5 speed tranny like you mentioned in my thread. I'm almost positive my friend has a rebuilt NP205 painted and ready to go if I pull the trigger. I just realized today that the manual steering box I have will not be the same and all the power steering stuff off the 2WD will not fit, minor set back but still a pain in the butt! Ok, I'm rambling due to my uncle Jack Daniels hanging out today. PM me if you need anything! |

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
My project for today, install shelving! I found a shoe store that was downsizing and bought this metal shelving and post for $120. This would have been $500 at Lowes, glad I didn't have to go that route. Just another project (finishing basement) that's on my list this year.
I did get my heater for the garage though, NICE!!!! As you guys stated, it is a little loud, but with a small 2 car garage it won't have to run that long...

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
Grew up in Noblesville but went to high school at Hamilton Southeastern. I guess around 90 min south of Fairfield. Almost went to Ball State but went to IUPUI on a ROTC scholarship - and graduated - instead. I used to run by the Colts old RCA stadium on my workout everday back when they had Harbaugh and Faulk posted all over the stadium walls.
Nice score on the shelving. I'm jealous. |

10 yrs Infantry for me. Left the 82nd in 2002 right after my son was born. The only time I made it into PA was when we jumped into a drop zone near Gettysburg where we did a battle analysis.

I miss the life. It was hard - but I loved it. At least now I get to spend a lot of time with my family and have hobbies like rebuilding my truck - something our brothers overseas don't get a chance to enjoy.

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
I'm Active Guard Reserve (AGR) at a schoolhouse, so for now I work 8-4:30 and have weekends off. All the pay and benefits of Title10 without the PCS requirement... truly the best of both worlds, besides the Air Guard! This was my first year to pass $100K so life is pretty good for the family.
AGR in the line units work daily and 1-2 weekends per month..
