I managed to create a couple albums in my profile and repath the links on the pictures up to part of page 15. I'm not sure if I'm limited to 100 photos in my photo albums, or if I'm limited temporarily, but I can't seem to upload any more. I can make another album, but I can't add to it. At least some of the photos are back up.

What a PITA, Duane! Back in the "good old days" you could look up all sorts of info on the interweb (like phone numbers) for free. Nowadays, seems like everyone has their hand out. I know it's a lot of work/expense to host some of these sites, but much of the original heavy lifting was done voluntarily by the developer community. What you see more and more now are latecomers monetizing the process.

Photos are a key part of our forum and it's great you're going the extra mile to recover from this unexpected setback.

I'm behind on my updates, and I'm back to posting the smaller forum photos, but at least they shouldn't disappear. So here it goes...

I used the old fuel line to mock up my trans cooler lines using aluminum tubing and some AN tube sleeves and nuts. They hit the header, so I've purchased 90 degree fittings to see if it'll work. Here's the test fit before I ordered the 90s. I tried moving the radius but just got kinks in the line since I don't have a bender that will make tighter radii or closer to the end of the line.

Later that day I pulled the motor so I could get off as much of the peeling paint as I can, clean and scuff the hell out of it so, hopefully, I won't have to do this again. Lesson learned, don't just clean it and etch prime a motor... scuff it first. I've never had to scuff an iron block before and have never had peeling problems like this. It seems to only be doing it on the aluminum parts. Here's some photos before repaint.

Before I put the engine back in, I figured it would be easier to replace the torn tail shaft seal while it was out of the truck. I pulled the old seal and had to improvise a tool to seat the new seal evenly. An old pickle jar we had in the recycling bin was the perfect fit. Used a rubber mallet and some specifically placed blows to get it on without breaking the glass jar or damaging the seal. Worked out pretty well.

Looking very nice. I hate it when paint peels off before you even get to fire it off and you have to redo it. What a mess! Nice work on using that jar to drive in the tail shaft seal.

Thanks! I had to find something that worked, I'm just glad it didn't break.

It wasn't a product that caused an issue, it was my lack of scuffing the aluminum. I cleaned it and wiped it down, but I didn't scuff it at all. It was just the aluminum parts that peeled, so it seems like my typical way of just cleaning it will work just fine on the iron block since it already had black paint on it.

I've finally uploaded all of the old photobucket photos into an album in "gallery" (up at the top under the forum banner). This allowed me to repath all of the images, so my thread is whole again! I think I'll be using that from here on so I can get the larger format images instead of the small 600x600 size. Unfortunately, you can only upload two pics at a time, but it might be worth it in the long run to keep larger images.

It's coming together... finally!


I HAVE TO paint the coil covers orange now. With all the black accessories on there, the orange is almost invisible.

I also started making my throttle mount bracket for the Lokar DBW pedal. This is just temporarily mounted to see how the position works out. I need to install the seat and check how it feels before making it the final install.

I'm not entirely sure yet. I've started to like the look of the truck intake so I might just leave it as-is. I do have a stock cover that will need to be trimmed a bit so it doesn't hit the coil covers though. I may see how I like that. Ultimately, I'll lose the coil covers and go with some original small block valve covers and I'll need to do something about that intake. Not sure if I'll go car intake, aftermarket, or just wait and go with a supercharger!

Some progress for Brutus...

I picked up the inner fenders. They still need some work on the wheel side, like a scuff, clean and undercoating... but they look good!


I also hooked up my battery and checked for fire... [I'm always a little worried the first time I connect a battery after electrical work. I've never had a problem, other than a melted fuse-able link, but I don't want to get too relaxed and have something burn the vehicle and house down.] Since I didn't see a spark/fire, I started checking voltage at different locations, to check my grounds and such. All looked good, so I went inside and charged my laptop. After about 30 minutes, it was fully charged so I brought it out to see if I could pull the tune off the ECM.

It worked, after I figured out I had to turn the key on first


Once I had the tune pulled, I started to setup the DD gauges. I had to turn the lights on

That depends on when I get the tune back and loaded into the ECM... and the fuel system plumbed... and the trans cooler lines plumbed... and the radiator in, hoses ordered or built, air intake together... a while yet.

I have a deadline set by my co-workers to have it running and driving by September 5th or I owe them lunch, so hopefully I can get all of that done in time.

Looking great...i might have missed it. Are you using stock truck accessory brackets? I'm at the point to start setting up my accessories (mainly A/C) to check fitment. I want the compressor low but scared that the frame will be in the way.

Love those Dakota gauges! I paid twice as much for my VHX set than I did my Omega Kustoms set but I think they look twice as good.
