Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

Looks good Mark...filling in the stake pocket will flip some people out...kinda like when gomer was filling the gold shipment truck up with gas in the gun port...all over barney...
As I was reading I was thinking vent inside the fill tube also...what about running the vent up the stake pocket on the pass side...

Ha I was thinking the same thing. 3/8 or 1/2" fuel line right to the tank.
You will need a vent for the fill neck, the second tank on my Jeep only has a 12" fill neck with no vent line and it takes for ever to fill.

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

very cool. I almost did something similar but it wouldn't have been as cool! I was going to add an external cover that went on bedside. I like how you recessed it into the pocket. I managed to mount mine way lower and scrapped the idea. blazer tank is nice, but that filler neck is a pain for sure. I'v used that tank twice. however my neck is on the side of tank, yours is on front. did you move it?

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

Well let's get this finished up!

Pic 1. Here is the Idea....The bed rail is Really beat up (dug out a lot of filler)
So I am using a plate of 18g sheet metal to make it flat and that way the filler cap will look flush.

Pic 2. Plate all spot welded in and ready for final weld.

Pic 3. This kinda shows how the filler will have the sunk look.

Pic 4. This is a shot showing the filler neck after I welded, smoothed and tapered it.

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

Update:

I got back on the radiator support/fender support.
I put the hood on to check the fitment and noticed the fenders needed to come up.
So what I did to make this happen was by using a ratchet strap across the tops of the fenders to pull them together, then using some angle iron across the front of the Rad. support I clamped it in place.
Removed the strap to close the hood to check fitment.

Pic 1. The angle iron welded in place to make it super ridged. I also installed the stock fender braces to tie it all together.

Pic 2. Hard to see it but I also welded in a spine along the lower section to help with flex.

Good solution to bring in stability and get hood alignment. Good to see continuing progress too!

Thanks Kees!
This truck wont be perfect or flawless (still going to be patina) So if it looks really close I'll be happy.

Update:

Here is a small project to get off my list.

Pic 1. After playing around with Ideas this was the shape I came up with. Cut them out and drilled some speed holes with Rotorbroach

Pic 2. mocking up the mounting plates for the lights.

Pic 3. getting the holes figured out for mounting.

Here is the finished mounts.
Will need to figure out the wiring yet so it doesn't look odd.
