I've paid close attention! Now I'm just waiting for someone to donate some of these wheels to my CCSB

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
Well, I finally had a day to work on my Blazer. I got the new front suspension and steering pieces/parts installed and put the wheels on. I used a tape measure to get the toe close, but haven't gotten the new M/C on because it didn't come with a new push rod (it's longer than the stock one) so I can't drive it yet.
Sorry about the shrub obstructing the pic, but I can't move it yet . I love the wheels on it though |

I will get this info as soon as I can, I left my notes at work and I had another more important project come up that looks like it will take all weekend. I got the tires mounted this morning too. bummer

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
You will need to cut approx. .38" off the spindle but didn't have to re-drill the cotter pin holes. I also ended up siliconing the center caps on the front like Hickup did. It sucks but I will order a spare set in case we lose or have to screw them up getting them off.
Here is the finished product: Here is the rotor and dust cover drawing for the mod to make the wheels fit on the front.

Got my brakes & suspension on and the wheels worked out fantastic. I know...there only 18's, but the roads here suck and I tow a ski boat on occasion, so I went with them. They worked out perfectly with the McGaughy brake kits front & rear and fill the fenders really well.

Easy now, I prefer the 18's. Your blazer looks great!

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
I also prefer 18's also on my lowered rides - btw, if anyone cares, yesterday I sent off my rear Boss 338 (in grey) 18x9.5's to get widened to 18x12 - a 335/30/18 tire will follow when the wheels get back. I'll post some pics when everything comes in.
nlped & mcbassin - both of your rides look great! Makes me want a squarebody again!

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
I thought I'd chime in, as this same thing happened to me about 10 years ago with the American Eagle Alloy 211 Wheel. So this is Not the 1st time this has Happened. You'd think they would have resolved or checked this, the Second Time around?? I have actually been running without the Front Cap's this whole time... When I got the 211's, at Discount tire... they basically told me tuff Shiite! I thought about Machining the Rotors, but didn't want to go through the Hassel ... Now I'm thinking about going to the Top of AEA, sending a few emails and see if I get any response... I just Can't believe they did it a second time (That we Know of)
Anyone know any email addresses at American Eagle ???? Last edited by jrcaprai; 08-12-2010 at 03:39 AM. |

and yes, SCOTI, they are short but with the drop I'm gonna be running, they will work out okay. Plus, the tall .68 OD in my TREMEC 5spd with the 3.73's demanded a shorter tire so my solid roller big block would cruise without bucking and shuddering at highway speed in 5th gear. I previously ran a 295/35/18 (26" tall) with a 7" rear drop on a '92 I used to have and it looked great, so I think the 26" tall tire will work out with a 7" rear drop on my '69 as well.

FYI (not being snotty at all; just a tip) -- you can subscribe to a thread without posting to it by using the Thread Tools menu at the top of the page.
