You're right Shannon, i'll get a quote for PC and if he if stupid high then think about paint...
Looks like i'm adding a speedwarning setup to my tach/vac dash. Also going back original 68 gray bezel.

I think that PC'd support will make it nicer for when it is inbetween initial start up and final assembly. Things tend to fly towards the painted parts and scratch them in those stages.

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
good point... right now the truck looks like it's been in a barn for the past year, not my garage... I don't see why my garage gets soooo dirty?
Had to take my day off yesterday a fiddle with the tahoe though. started idiling rough at 50K miles. Had a misfire code so I pulled all of the plugs. Drivers side was black and pass side was perfect. Buddy says to change O2 sensor on that side.. WHAT A PITA! I had to disconnect the front driveshaft just to reach the cannon plug for the sensor... and guess what, 05 tahoes may or may not have fuel filters... mine doesn't, what is Chevy thinking?

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
I just found out yesterday on my wife's Amanti (Kia) that essentially no fuel filter either. It is integrated with the fuel pump in the tank and supposedly is only replaced when the pump needs replaced. ( to me)
I did not realize that Chevy did something that crazy also. There are many times I hate to open the hood of my 2002 and figure out where they hid the &*^%$ thing I need to find. Oh yeah, congrats on the promotion and good luck with the truck on your time off.

thanks... my knuckles are bloody from 2 of the spark plugs and a simple wiring connector! gotta love modern cars!
I might have to get the computer reflashed once I change the O2 sensor, that's another $80...

Nice. It really amazes me what they are leaving off these newer vehicles. I couldn't believe it when our Savanna vans had no fuel filters. We just discovered recently that the 5.4's in our 06 Econolines don't even have a fuel pressure regulator or a test port. What's up with that?

It is supprising some of the new stuff doesn't have fuel filters! I used to work as a Service Advisor at a Chevy dealership, and you wouldn't belive how mad some of the older customers get when they find that out. Theres some cars and trucks that list fuel filters on the preventative maintanace schedule and they don't even have it! |

About clearing the CEL (chek engine light)... If theres a local parts store like Advance auto or Autozone, call them and ask if they scan and clear codes. Around me they offer the service for free. The scan tools they have are noting special at all, but they can tell you the DTC (Diagnostic trouble code) if any, and clear the CEL. Beats paying a shop to do it! |

On a serious not for those who do like the Yankees... I was eating lunch at a diner a couple years ago here in Nebraska, and an older man walks by me with a Yankees hat on, and says to me nice hat (I was sporting my 5950 I got at Yankee Stadium earlier that year) And then he tells me his name is Bob Cerv, and he used to play for the yankees. I imediately realized who he was (Played with Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Roger Maris ect.) and talked to him about baseball for like 10 min. It was awesome. I should have gotton him to sign my hat, but I didnt even think about it! |

that's cool... I married into a Yaknee fan family so it's mandatory...
I had autozone clear the engine light, tahoe is running fine now. The guy said they aren't allowed to clear them due to liability and such, he did anyway...

Curious how that heater works for you since I need to do the same thing. Pretty soon my carhart jacket and toboggan won't be enough. Like you, I plan to get serious this winter.

should only have to run it for 30 minutes or so to heat the two car garage up... It would be nice to have a wall mounted unit that I could use all the time, but this will work for me... Runs on kerosene or diesel..

Those work really well. Friend uses one in his shop. They are LOUD when running, so it is hard to have conversation. I also tend to get a headache when it runs to long and not vented.

this one is smaller (40,000 BTU vs 150,000 BTU) so it shouldn't be to loud...
picked up an awesome deal on metal shevling for the basement today.. check craisglist for retail stores going out of business.. i'll post pics tomorrow, it would make great garage storage too... I'm a CL junkie!

I'm a CL junkie![/QUOTE] Its no wonder that your a CL junkie with the deals you find. They don't part with half the stuff here in the city for the prices that you score out there!I had to start searching the surrounding areas for better deals.Do you get CL alerts on your cell? I don't know how your house is set up or if there are zoning issues, but what do you think about a wood stove? Its cheap and it keeps things cozy. Those turbine heaters work great,it heats a workshop/garage in a hurry, but it does get cold quick once they're shut down.
